Just caught up on this now. What a classic girl and top athlete.
Sheer class as always from Katie Taylor who makes it 3 out of 3 & defies the bookies odds. What a woman! She never fails to do us proud. Hugely biased Netflix commentary. Serrano was punching thin air most of the time. #TaylorSerrano3 #TaylorSerrano3
Everybody leaves, everything closes down , you would struggled to get a restaurant opened in Belfast on the lead up to and the couple of days after. It is a disaster for Tourism. Honestly if you can’t see this Jonathan you are living in a parallel universe. It’s sad tbh.
Discover Northern Ireland – Missing something? Let’s fix that for them: 12th July 🇬🇧 🥁 🎶 Location: Northern Ireland Wide Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Take 4 Minutes. Lovely.
Lady Gaga performed Elton John’s “Your Song” in front of him and absolutely nailed it!
Total madness. There are precious few targets in the PfG but the housing target has crashed before it even got into first gear.
Nearly 6,400 people on #Derry's waiting list & Executive parties slash housing budget. Makes total sense 🤔
This conversation has, sadly, been lost in the extremist environment.
We need objectivity & rationality around the conversation on migration into Northern Ireland. The NI labour market has become near to full capacity, specifically for key skills required by employers in NI (eg health). Migration has been necessary to fill those places.
They used to talk about ‘the CNN effect’, investment & jobs deterred by media reporting of disorder & savagery. The complete inability of a minority of people here to tolerate difference. Glad to explain to a US audience that the majority are sane, humane & moving forward.
Today’s announcement of £50m from the UK Government for Casement Park is welcome and the Executive must now increase their contribution. Ulster gaels have waited long enough. Build Casement now!
Congratulations @LeonaONeill1 on the launch of this charter.
What a day! I launched my MediaStrong Newsroom Wellbeing Charter at Stormont with the support of fellow journalists, editors, newsroom leaders, university colleagues, supporters and friends. A hugely important conversation started in the Stormont’s Long Gallery today and../1
📢 Northern Ireland faces a choice. 🌹 An inward-looking, reactionary British state, or a new Ireland willing to reach out across the world. 🌱 What would you choose?
This week, the SDLP Opposition are bringing a motion to the NI Assembly with a clear message: As Britain’s politics shift further to the right, our best future is back in Europe and the only real path there is through a New Ireland.
Have we leant anything. Our inhumanity to our brothers and sisters.
Of the 360 dental practices in N.I, just TWO fully NHS. GP’s on same trajectory. A GP appt costs £39.23 (9 min consultation) an A&E visit costs min £359 (King’s Fund). GPs prevent A&E visits, it makes financial & health sense, to fund them properly before it is TOO LATE.
NI journalists, media workers, newsroom staff, mental health professionals, I invite you to the launch of my MediaStrong Newsroom Mental Wellbeing Charter, Stormont, June 4th co-sponsored by @SineadMcL4Foyle @PaulaJaneB, Health Minister @mikenesbittni. DM, I'll send you an invite
"We must not allow Derry's creative future to be dismantled piece by piece." While Equity members were rallying outside the Department for Communities' Derry offices yesterday, @SineadMcL4Foyle MLA supported our message in the Northern Ireland Assembly: save the arts!
Despite Sinn Féin’s repeated promises not to raise tuition fees, the Economy Minister refused to rule out an increase in the Assembly today. In the South, they call for free tuition - in the North, they consider hiking fees. The SDLP will hold them to their word.
Do you feel like your area doesn't get it's fair share of jobs and investment? Sinéad McLaughlin is bringing a bill which seeks to redress the balance caused by decades of underinvestment in areas around the North. Read more here: sdlp.ie/balancing_act
Northern Ireland’s wastewater network is broken and it’s holding us all back. New homes can't be built and our environment is suffering. Today, the SDLP is demanding an urgent review of NI Water’s funding and governance. It’s time for action.
In some areas, second homes are driving up prices while housing sits empty most of the year. Our SDLP plan Building Firm Foundations calls for: • A register of holiday homes • Powers to cap them in hotspot areas • Higher rates on second homes Communities must come first.
Back in Belfast ... 91-year-old George Mitchell & his wife Heather today @QUBelfast to deliver a speech entitled 'Passing the Torch'. He has encouraged young people to stay here, if they can.
