For 'bollocks' please read 'Polish pilots' as these belong to Squadron 303...
A bit of shameless advertising on the borderlands this morning! 👇🏽 helion.co.uk/military-histo… #ChurchillsSpaniards #ContinuingtheFight
Penultimate chapter submitted. I now have 'interoperability' running through my veins.
Saw a remarkable piece at the Musée de l’Armée today - an armband of the camouflage section of the French army, designated by a chameleon on the two-tones of the general staff. This was officially designated by the Ministry of War on 4 August 1915.
Vilnius 🇱🇹 airport security gives examples of items that Lithuanians should not take on the plane with them. 1000+ years of bonking with no issues, and now suddenly we have to leave our bonk sticks behind ☹️
A friendship going back over 20 years to the 2005 ‘Merlins Over Malta’ Project. Clive Denney & James Holland talk Battle of Britain, Hurricanes, & Spitfire snobbery! ☺️ We had a really great day filming at Duxford so watch this space for a fascinating new series by Al Murray &…
A glorious afternoon at the ICCEES conference in London. Behold, the fabulous @blaszczyk_agata and the virtual but no less fabulous @JCBretan. I brought the British Mission to Poland 1939 to the party.

Conference paper finished, next PhD chapter almost ready to submit. Feeling positively smug.

Good day. Loading of Polish Shermans and other vehicles from the Polish 1st Armored Division onto the Liberty-class ship SS Hannibal Hamlin, and a staff conversation telling jokes with General Maczek. Destination: France, Normandy Juno Beach, Late July 1944. #WW2 #History #Tanks
I get that Lech Walesa wasn’t that old at the time of solidarity and that 1989 wasn’t that long ago but it’s still wild to think “oh, there’s this key figure in the collapse of communist Poland and I can just go see him give a lecture if I wanted to” this far into 21st c.
'British plans rarely survived contact with the exiled Allies.' Yeah, feeling good about that one.
I keep coming back to this little book, with its wealth of tiny details - the newly arrived Poles mistaking the adverts in train station for placenames, and using German-English dictionaries to learn the language in the absence of Polish dictionaries.

"The northern #Polish🇵🇱 town of #Malbork is preparing to host one of the country’s largest historical reenactments this weekend, as it stages the Siege of Malbork from July 18 to 20." Such enthusiasm for the Middle Ages! Watch @TVPWorld_com tvpworld.com/87906734/malbo…
Very much love Churchill: ‘Mere questions of administrative inconvenience must not be allowed to stand in the way of this policy of the State.’
