Economic growth and development becomes much more cooler and awe inspiring when you think of it less as "line goes up" and more as "increasing productive power of the species".
In my FP piece, I explore why China’s sudden reversal on its banquet dining crackdown came about. foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/25/chi… What began as a well-intentioned anti-corruption directive was taken to extremes by an overzealous local bureaucracy. The result was a chilling effect on the…

Japan has already solved this too, they really are great at getting rent seekers out of the way of builders
For America to succeed in the AI arms race the state needs to impose a grand bargain for copyright in the LLM era that obsoletes old thinking about licensing costs and the absurd statutory "damages" of a computer reading books off of libgen. Having to individually negotiate with…

TSMC’s CFO tells @chitnis_ a big difference between the US & Taiwan is not just permitting but local government familiarity with permitting. In Taiwan, local govs know semiconductor fab permitting well after much experience. But it was new for Phoenix city gov, so had to learn.…

I recently came across Indian students going to Vietnam to study medicine and the colleges there charge them ₹4 lakh a year (about $4600) in fees. I am told the quality of education is good. Vietnam's GDP per capita is about $4700 and our southern states are at about the same…
Fascinating read. As a former "gifted" math student, this confirms a lot of my intuition that I formed working with many academics. I would add that even amongst gifted people, the more complex a topic was, the more clearly you could see the differences in talent.
Sometimes the truth is just too horrible for "good" people to accept. Surely the universe does not actually work this way and I could sprint sub-10s in the 100m if I just had the right coaching.
My thesis is every new entrant to industrialization will have to exploit labor harder/at greater scale to overcome the incumbent advantage in capital accumulation.
India’s manufacturing dream hits a demographic wall. Young workers resist factory life due to low pay, harsh routines, and better gig options. Unless labour housing, skilling, and dignity of work are addressed, the farm-to-factory shift will remain stuck in theory.
Oral sex was considered unchaste as per the Kama Sutra. The people of Eastern India refused to marry women who practiced oral sex.
Finally, we have found something to cancel Hitler.
Even Hitler agrees
Yeap. ASEAN wasn't going to let this keep going. They're starting to mediate behind the scenes.
JUST IN: Acting PM Phumtham says Thailand is coordinating with ASEAN Chair Malaysia to push for a diplomatic solution to the escalating border conflict with Cambodia.
I've never been a huge Vivek supporter myself, but one of the biggest divides I have seen between the Very Online Right and real life is regarding him: normal Republicans REALLY seem to like him! As do normal, vaguely guys with ~Joe Rogan's politics—of all races btw.
I know he’s not popular with the online right but I’ve talked to my people in Ohio and they will be voting for Vivek.
The phenomenon of very anti-Russian Eastern Europeans who aren't raging Sinophobes is very interesting to me. It's surprisingly common. You almost never see that in the west.
I honestly don’t have a problem with China. China never did anything bad to me personally
Textiles and shipbuilding remain labour intensive. These sectors are crucial to occupy space.

It is truly inspiring to embark on the exploration of Taiwanese identity and the essence of being a Tai Mei, having photography as a medium to shed light on the diverse stories of Taiwanese women and the broader narrative of Taiwan
Israeli sources tell @IgnatiusPost that Iran's nuclear program is now "rubble and dust." Among the details shared: Israel believes it destroyed 80% of Iran's missile launchers (though sources admit Iran had more solid-fuel missiles than estimated).

What’s interesting about this tweet from the Before Time is that, while they very much still hate white people, I notice way fewer people talking in this way. They know the Whites are about to fucking snap.
Goes hard tbh
Yea Hitler wasn't really a Norse neopagan type some other Nazis were. Lovecraft has an interesting quote where he says his loyalties transfers from his ancient Germanic ancestors to the Romans and he viewed ancient history from a Roman POV.
