The Mayor is once again decimating the legal rights of people who are homeless via a subtitle of the Budget Support Act, no hearing, no input from impacted community members-- by claiming lowering safety standards (risking the safety of kids) and removing due process will save $$
It’s time to fight for housing justice in DC’s FY26 budget! Tell DC Council to invest in housing vouchers that end homelessness for DC residents and oppose harmful plans and cuts to critical programs! tinyurl.com/4ucwu7mx
We thank Senate Appropriations Chair @SenatorCollins, cosponsors, as well as DC residents, schoolchildren, businesses, and our neighbors and friends. Mayor Bowser released the following statement on the continuing resolution negotiations:

From Councilmember @charlesallen: Here's the latest, where things stand, and your marching orders for the next 24 hours.
Agreeing to violate the rights of unhoused people to appease a bully is beyond reprehensible. @MayorBowser should be ashamed.

If you missed my segment on @wusa9 this morning you can view it here. “I strongly believe that if you are taking care of the workforce and everyone elses children, you should be able to earn enough to take care of your own family.”(1/2)
Agreed, Mr. President. Early childhood educators, home health aides, skilled nursing facility staff, & long-term care facility staff deserve fair compensation!
It's not enough to praise our care workers, we have to pay them.
