They regard themselves as sagacious old owls, dismissing JD criticisms as out of control and overly emotional, too infantile to grasp the issue. In their eyes, there's no merit in enlightening those deemed perpetually uncomprehending. It's a clear display of paternalism.
There was an impressive amount of PAs on here that stated they didn’t want the role of a doctor. Interesting now how many have decided they don’t want to be a PA anymore because… they are no longer performing the role of a doctor.
Different groups with different achievements that are both are going to sit down afterwards and see patients in the exact same way.
From someone who helped create this mess, this smug deflection is almost impressive. The usual ill-informed take from the permanently comfortable — baffled that doctors are angry while watching their profession gutted in real time. “Different groups celebrated” — sure.…
For ex GEPs (SGUL term!), if your medicine degree got paid off but not your undergrad it likely won’t change the amount you pay in your lifetime. Your first degree + interest is likely so large. It’s irrelevant anyway, because Wes will never do it.
It wouldn’t get rid of it I know but it would reduce how much we are paying
I have absolutely no idea, looking at this photo, who is a doctor and who is not. But I rather suppose that’s the point, isn’t it?
Time to recognise the dedication and brilliance of our new Advanced Clinical Practitioners, MRCEM and FRCEM diplomates who are lining up for their moment on the stage! It's going to be an inspiring day #rcemdiploma
I will give a gold star to anyone who can correctly identify how productivity is measured in the NHS and how completely bonkers it is.
they earn a fortune & gold plated pension relative to the average worker already, despite delivering a shocking decline in productivity. Ae you so greedy that you cannot see this?
Given the quality of teachers in the uk and the decline of education I would strongly argue teaching should have been a very well paid job, and it should be undertaken by extremely bright people. But it’s not, because the pay is terrible.
'Within reason', Drs want 29.5% again this yr, know state of the economy. Are teachers who have had their pay eroded too worth less? Apart from teachers they are also social workers, carers, H & S officers, counsellors, mediators, administrators & far more. They got 5.5%
The multiple suggestions that would we accept less pay for the NHS to contribute less to our pension are… interesting. I don’t give a monkeys what the NHS contributes. I still get my 1/54th out.
Lies upon lies. There was no ‘enormous good will’. @wesstreeting recommended a real terms pay cut to our pay review body, which shows he acted in bad faith. Doctors aren’t asking for pay restoration “now”, they’re asking for a plan towards it. Wes is refusing to negotiate a…
"It's not too late even at this late stage for us to get back on the path that I wanted us to be on of working together." @WesStreeting makes clear why the BMA's resident doctors committee must change their approach 👇
You can’t tell me the last sentence isn’t funny
Disclaimer: I have no inside information But I do know Prof Leng was speaking to those effected by the review in person before its imminent release I assume it wasn’t good news for @UMAPsUK given how pathetic this statement is I’m not anti-MAP I am pro professional standards
Most ACPs reach the level where they do tasks sometimes done by doctors more slowly than doctors. At least 2 degrees lasting 6 years plus years of clinical experience. Medical school gets you to that level more quickly and with further opportunities to progress.
I can do most things an astronaut can. Except go to space.
