The American people deserve to afford a home, but mortgage rates are keeping home prices out of reach. We need action from the Fed.
We have the strongest economy in the world, but Powell’s refusal to cut rates are keeping mortgage rates near 7% — pricing families out of homes. Lower rates would unleash the economy, ease the housing crisis, and help Americans afford a home.
Powell hiked rates in 2018, choking @POTUS’ strong economy, then sat idle as Biden’s inflation soared. Now in President Trump’s second term, he’s keeping rates high, crushing families. LOWER THE RATE!
.@POTUS: "Exactly as anticipated — very low inflation, so what you should do is LOWER THE RATE! The Fed should lower the rate immediately."
Powell’s refusal to cut interest rates are keeping mortgage rates sky high. We’re slashing regulations at HUD to unleash the private sector to build & get government out of the way. The Fed needs to do its part and cut interest rates. Mortgage rates will follow!
.@POTUS: "Jerome Powell's been very bad for our country. We should have the lowest interest rate on earth, and we don't... and yet, he's spending $2.5 billion rebuilding the Fed — the Federal Reserve building... I call him 'Too Late' — he's always too late."
Among the thousands of wins in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, @POTUS brought back the Mortgage Insurance Premium tax deduction which lapsed under Biden's watch. This provision will save first-time homebuyers thousands of dollars a year on their taxes.
The Trump administration got our fiscal house in order by slashing regulations across the board, bringing costs down. Now Powell needs to cut interest rates to unleash developers, open up housing supply, and allow our economy to boom.
🇺🇸 6 Months, 6 Wins In April, we expanded the Tribal HUD-VASH program to support our Native American veterans at risk of becoming homeless. Our veterans sacrificed greatly for our country, and this program helps provide them opportunities for safe and affordable housing.
🇺🇸 6 Months, 6 Wins @POTUS restored common sense and biological truth that there are only two sexes — MALE AND FEMALE. We acted to ensure men are not allowed in HUD-funded shelters for women.
🇺🇸 6 Months, 6 Wins Overregulation strangles developers’ ability to build housing and raises costs for the consumer. We struck down 12 burdensome regulations that increased costs.
🇺🇸 6 Months, 6 Wins Under the Biden administration, illegal aliens were granted access to HUD programs. We closed the spigot to ensure taxpayer-funded housing programs only benefit American citizens.
🇺🇸 6 Months, 6 Wins After just one week on the job, we uncovered $1.9 billion in “misplaced” funds and started trimming the fat on $260 million in wasteful contracts — including over $4 million in DEI contracts.
The current HUD HQ is falling apart everywhere you turn. I witnessed this firsthand today. It’s not suitable for HUD staff or the people we serve. Moving day can’t come soon enough.
President Trump’s economic policies are working but Powell’s excessively high interest rate is holding us back. Cutting the interest rate would unleash our economy and positively impact mortgage rates — bringing the American Dream of homeownership back within reach.

After the cameras are off and the coverage fades, HUD will still be there to help those affected by the Texas floods. In fact, we are just beginning our mission. Here are a few of the actions HUD is taking to help Texas rebuild in the wake of this terrible disaster.
The $30m in the FY26 THUD appropriations bill secures housing for young adults aging out of foster care. Thank you, @FLOTUS, for your continued dedication to serving our most vulnerable youth and @rep_stevewomack for securing an additional $5 million for this critical program.
Fostering the Future || New Housing Commitment America’s foster youth received a $30 million housing commitment in yesterday’s FY26 THUD appropriations bill. Thank you @rep_stevewomack and the House Appropriations Committee for supporting this key priority of Fostering the…
.@SenWarren, when HUD’s headquarters needed $500 million in repairs, we decided to move and save taxpayers millions in rent. Powell wants to SPEND 5X THAT on the Fed’s building. We are not the same. One is good stewardship; the other is a textbook DC swamp spending spree.

It took @POTUS 6 months to fix Biden’s inflation nightmare. Inflation is down, wages are up, and the American Dream is back!
An estimated 145,000 households in Mississippi are rent-burdened — meaning more than 30% of their income goes to rent. HUD is working to increase housing supply and drive down costs across the Magnolia State. It was great to speak with MS state leaders about the housing…
Powell, it doesn’t take an economist to see that your high interest rates impact housing, building, and sales. Hardworking Americans are paying the price.
