I cannot understand the strategic rationale for the Israelis behind all of this, and I think we have to take Al-Sharaa at his word here. This is a dangerous moment for Syrians, Israelis, and the region writ large.

This interview, which some inside Iran have been pushing for, was for an audience of one: President Donald Trump. Before the war, it might've had some influence on Trump's thinking, but Carlson is now on his bad side, and it's unclear if he'll even watch it.
I hope that this is true and a diplomatic process can get started.
