PROM-Ataxia is sensitive to change over 1 year in spinocerebellar @NAF_Ataxia - Anna Burt BA; and #cerebellar neuropsychiatric rating scale further development - Louisa Selvadurai PhD, #ICAR2024. So proud of our Schmahmann lab next generation of ataxia investigators.

Just out in Cerebellum. SCA27B - a clinical diagnosis confirmed by gene testing. 90% success rate if onset >45 years, isolated downbeat nystagmus (DBN), DBN with ataxia, or dominant ataxia with episodic worsening and exacerbation by caffeine link.springer.com/10.1007/s12311…
Finishing up another successful annual @nafataxia conference and ataxia clinical training program in Las Vegas. ~500 ataxians and family members, 45 movement disorder trainees, and active patient engagement in ongoing projects with our research team.

Congratulations Leigh Rettenmaier (here with Shasank Prasad): best research presentation by a Fellow at National Neuro-Ophthalmology conference. Work now in review: @MGHNeurology Ataxia Center experience with SCA27B. Clinical phenotype predicts genotype with 90% accuracy

Lab member Maia Hirsch discussing her work on the CCAS Scale at the poster session, @anpadirect 2025, Montreal. Great job at her first meeting and scientific presentation. The scale appropriate for conditions other than cerebellar disorders?

Thank you @IsaiahNeurology. At @UColoradoNeuro today celebrating the career and enormous contributions of my friend, Professor Emeritus Christopher Filley, to the clinical neuroscience of white matter, and description and understanding of the phenomenon of white matter dementia.
Beautiful lecture by @SchmahmannLab on systems neuroscience of white matter pathways in honor of Dr. Filley @UColoradoNeuro @CUMedicalSchool

Many forms of Ataxia are caused by damage to the Cerebellum. This is the part of your brain that controls balance, coordination, and other complex tasks. (1/2)
Huge congratulations to @BillNye for being recognized with the Presidential Medal of Freedom today. Thank you for all you are doing for the @NAF_Ataxia community, over and above your magnificent contributions to science education, mentoring, and inspiration for all these years.

A memorable day on Capitol Hill, @biohaven @NAF_Ataxia and @BillNye, meeting Congressman & Senators to urge congressional oversight: @FDA must comply with mandated regulatory flexibility, and consider real world evidence in the rare #ataxia disease space

Part of the MGH Ataxia Center team with former @MGHNeurology colleague and now @NINDSdirector Dr. Walter Koroshetz at the start of #icar2024 International Congress for Ataxia Research in London. @NAF_Ataxia @CureFA_org @MissionMSA @Soniagobe @ATCure

A limited number of complimentary registrations are available for residents and fellows on a first come first serve basis. Applications for the 2025 ACT cohort are being accepted through October 1. Learn more: ataxia.org/act (3/3)
Are you a clinician, HCP, or an industry partner interested in Ataxia care? Join NAF in Las Vegas, Nevada 3/27-29, 2025 for our 4th annual Ataxia Clinical Training program! Deadline to apply October 1st: ataxia.org/act (1/3)
Exciting @biohaven news today. Troriluzole met all top line results, slowing progression in SCA. Over 3 years, treated patients had 50% slower decline compared to CRC-SCA controls, 70% compared to EuroSCA. So happy for @NAF_Ataxia community. Let’s hope for rapid FDA approval.
For people with a hereditary form of Ataxia, @BillNye's experience of many family members having symptoms that affect their ability to walk is very common. Share this to teach your followers about Ataxia! youtu.be/Mk_OGpvNcMc
