The Kyle Harrison revamping continues. New cutter, new changeup grip too maybe? The results are starting to tick into place.
LHP Kyle Harrison had the best start of his tenure w/the Red Sox tonight: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 86p/61s. Here’s a comparison of the pitch movement from his Worcester debut (6/26) & tonight. In addition to continuing to refine his CT, looks like they’ve tweaked his CH & FB.
Stop taking all my pitchers
Landen Roupp was placed on the IL with elbow inflammation. Tristan Beck is back. A big blow for a team that already is short on starting pitching.
I knew they were gonna do this and I really think it’s the wrong path forward. You’re removing your best defensive OF from the OF and taking an elite trade asset off the market.
Cora said to expect lots of Rafaela at 2B and an outfield of Anthony-Duran-Abreu with Yoshida DHing. It turns out they didn’t have too many outfielders after all.
It’s comical because anybody who follows the team knew this was gonna be the move even though there are other options that would likely have made far more sense
Alex Speier (@alexspeier) has confirmed it’s David Hamilton back up to replace Marcelo Mayer (wrist injury).
Unless the Red Sox were also sending lack prospects of their own, I’d have thought long and hard about this. Maybe SD gets desperate and ups the ante
The Padres made an offer to the Red Sox for Jarren Duran involving Dylan Cease, per @Sean_McAdam. The package also included catching prospect Ethan Salas and another prospect (not shortstop Leo de Vries). The Red Sox quickly rejected it.
Malpractice
Since his promotion to Triple-A last August, Chandler has now logged 122 innings at Triple-A (2.80 ERA) without an MLB promotion. That's pretty unusual - in terms of a lot of innings at that stop - for a top prospect.
Pavin Smith to 1B when he comes back which means Adrian Del Castillo sticks at DH the rest of the season?
Left-hander Brandyn Garcia and right-hander Ashton Izzi are headed back to the Arizona Diamondbacks from the Seattle Mariners for first baseman Josh Naylor, sources tell ESPN. That's the full trade. And so begins deadline season. Buckle up.
Eugenio Suárez is the crown jewel of this trade market, but sources say Arizona -- which is in sell mode -- is asking for "a ton" for the slugger, and if that price isn't met, the Diamondbacks might hold him and try to re-sign him in the offseason.

I feel attacked. Somebody clearly feed my childhood little league practice tape into this server and I won’t stand for it

I’m excited about this one. I spoke to MLB pitchers and pitching coaches about what “feel” is, how it can be lost/found, and whether or not it can be taught. I’d love it if you check it out @rotoworld_bb nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseba…
These are not strikes but as my college coach would have said to me, “What, you think he [the ump] was gonna do something different after the first two times?”
Strike 1. Strike 2. Strike 3. Manager ejected.
Which starting pitchers could be moved at the deadline? I tried to take a comprehensive look at all the likely (and unlikely) names we'll hear mentioned over the next week @rotoworld_bb nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseba…
I hope you’ve been enjoying the Gavin Williams ride with us this season
You never really know what you're going to get with a Gavin Williams start
This is kind of interesting. The idea is the Red Sox trading Duran for Lugo and Blake Mitchell or Carter Jensen. So Boston would get an SP2 for this year and land a top tier catching prospect to add to a future lineup with Anthony, Mayer, Rafaela, etc.
The athleticism and contract of Jarren Duran makes him attractive to the Royals, reports @Ken_Rosenthal. Kansas City is making it clear to clubs that if it trades right-hander Seth Lugo, they will want controllable outfield help in return. Boston would not trade its left…
HUMP DAY is BUMP DAY. We have some aces on the menu today. Tyler Glasnow is leaning into his sinker. Logan Gilbert is paring down his pitch mix. Joe Ryan is trying to find a key secondary, and there's more @rotoworld_bb nbcsports.com/fantasy/baseba…
Planned piggybacking for Miz wouldn’t be great for fantasy. Or for general baseball fans. Just wanna watch him pitch
And right on cue, Misiorowski is hit in the back by a comebacker. He waved off the athletic trainer immediately and is OK. DL Hall is warming. There was chatter earlier tonight that this could be a planned piggyback as the Brewers control Miz's innings.
Not sure why people are down on Season 4 of The Bear. Didn’t match the Season 1-2 highs but was a strong season of television and a finale that worked for me and paid off a lot of previous emotional obstacles/pain points
Honestly, happier about this than him coming back and starting tomorrow vs the Dodgers, as previously reported
After throwing a bullpen today, Bailey Ober is starting at Triple-A Saint Paul on Friday. #MNTwins
I’ll amend my earlier criticism of this rule but I still don’t like it. The point about touching the batter or bat is dumb bc what if it’s the batter who moves into contact? Also, the catcher should be able to move in front of the plate if the batter abandons the batter’s box
Rule 6.01(g) explains it all:
Catchers interference is the new “woke.” We’re just gonna keep using it until it loses all meaning
