Hayden Birdsong and Tristan Beck were optioned to Triple-A, Carson Seymour and Sean Hjelle are back. The bullpen needs fresh arms right away and they now have a hole in the rotation (for Seymour, Carson Whisenhunt or bullpen games) as Birdsong tries to figure things out.

Giants amateur scouting director Michael Holmes said they'll develop first-rounder Gavin Kilen as a shortstop and third-rounder Trevor Cohen as a center fielder. Their scouts graded both with "elite bat to ball skills," and both had very low strikeout rates in college.
