there've been a few times recently that i felt, even a little bit, like i wish i wasn't disabled. the sad part? it's not bc of my disability. it's bc even the most "progressive" ppl talk about us like we are trash. burdens. useless. we are people. where is the fucking humanity

People are saying Eugenics but we 1000% should cure debilitating diseases and conditions if we can so everyone can have a better quality of life. Eugenics would be aborting, disadvantaging, and ignoring the needs of the disabled LIKE WE DO NOW
Ableism is having non-disabled people ask you to tone down your disability for their own comfort rather than accept you as you are in any way, shape or form.
Down Syndrome and other congenital developmental disabilities are not “diseases” to be “cured”—they are variations in the human mosaic that should be accommodated by the rest of society because all disabled people have inherent value.
People have this unrealistic image of disabled people being surrounded by supportive family, doctors that take our conditions seriously, and tons of money from the govt. Y’all are gonna have a rude awakening when you become disabled. Most of us are barely surviving
The fact that the doordash disability debate happens like every 6 mos is exhausting. If you have never been abandoned by loved ones, medical instrastructure, and the govt, then youre not in a position to tell disabled people how to survive. 1/2
