#agrisagronomy AGRIS Spornado trapping network catching lots of disease spores. remember disease triangle need a Host crop in proper growth stage , pathogen and environmental conditions to support an infection

❗️Mark Licht wrote a nice little blog on the wrapped tassel issue some are noticing. At the end of the article, there’s an anonymous questionnaire to learn more about the conditions in which you’re seeing it! #ISUCrops Read the article: crops.extension.iastate.edu/post/are-you-s…
#agrisagronomy CHU update from May 1st to July 20 ( 81 days) approx. 150 CHU behind a year ago, roughly 1 week, last 10 days have avg 29 CHU/ day

➡️It takes about 2-3 weeks after infection for you to see tar spot on the corn plant. ➡️While current weather conditions are low risk for tar spot, hot, humid, and wet is about as good as it gets for gray leaf spot. ➡️Scout fields before you make mgmt decisions!
I've had a few people ask about the Tarspotter app. @CropNetwork is now using the Crop Disease Forecasting Tool online: cropprotectionnetwork.org/crop-disease-f…. The current weather pattern is low risk for tar spot, but I expect we'll see more show up in corn due to good conditions in June.
#agrisagronomy corn is well adapted to capture limited moisture and funnel it down to the soil

##agrisagronomy this wheat field near Melbourne just reached physiological maturity, peduncles are tan colored on main stem a few green tillers, at current weather start harvest early next week. Yield potential looks very good

#agrisagronomy April 22 planted DK 101 35 , 5 more leaves or roughly 12 to 14 days to VT

#agrisagronomy relocating Spornado trap away from birds who like to do their business on top of solar panels. Panels drive a fan that draws air into the cassette. We change weekly and the Lab does a DNA scan of collected spores. So far high NCLB relatively lower Tar Spot count

#agrisagronomy the AGRIS collaborative network is up and running some more traps to add, starting to pick up a hoist of diseases- remember the disease triangle - host crop -spore load and environmental conditions to support infection need all 3 things aligned to have an issue

#agrisagronomy pea harvest under way in Chatham Kent

#agrisagronomy warm days catch upon CHU? Two parts to calcu, day and night time. Day time temp >10 <30 C max daily amt is 16.5, temps over 30 do not add any CHU. Night time is min temp 4.4 C and no upper limit. If tonight was 24C then todays CHU would be 34.1
#agrisagronomy this winter wheat is 12 days into grain fill for a total accum to date of 223 GDD or 33% through grain fill suggesting a 34 day grain fill period, average daily GDD is 18.6, getting warmer and wheat needs a drink

#agrisagronomy approx 3 days from Zadoks 61 on main head tillers might make same stage by then

#agrisagronomy a month difference in planting date shrinks to a week difference this time of year. Later planted (left) appears to catch up. However later planted has fewer spikelets.

#agrisagronomy DeKalb 101-35 planted April 23 finally responding to the warmth. This will be the location of a Boron trial, both sidedress and foliar.

#agrisagronomy CHU update , approx. 150 behind a year ago. Cool nights not adding much to the daily CHU accumulations

#agrisagronomy if you see this in your wheat and still spraying T2 Group 11 you need to stop and switch to a Group 3 or delay until full head emergence and flowering if disease pressure is low
