How old were you when you realized authority figures do not have your best interests in mind?

Characters - particularly the main character - are the most important thing for me, whether it be my own stuff or stuff I enjoy. To me, a setting is just a vehicle for a plot, and a plot is just a vehicle for characters.

I could see how this wouldn’t be the best approach for a play, short story, or screenwriting where the premise and the plot are more important in a shorter time frame. But in a series, like comic books or television, things more character centric, seems to be how most do it.

Rather than saying whether art should be "uncomfortable" or "transgressive," it's more honest and valuable to ask if art is allowed to be hateful, mean-spirited, or cruel. The answer to that is yes, but eliminates the air of needless moralizing.

I find it kinda funny when people have these super-specific scores with decimals for things. Like why is that thing an 8.4 and not an 8.5? It’s so silly. The simpler the rating scale the better.
