NEW: There was a report today that UK men's basketball had received 45% of the revenue sharing split this year, but multiple sources have told me that number is not accurate. More about we know about UK's revenue sharing plan here. kentucky.com/sports/college…
UK's Monday basketball practice was derailed when half the team struggled to execute the concepts the coaches put in front of them. Ever the optimist, Mark Pope found silver linings. on3.com/sites/cats-ill…
According to sources within the program, Kentucky is set to re-sign with Nike on a long-term shoe/apparrel deal. The previous deal (signed in 2013 at $47M) ran thru end of 2024-25 season. Cats have been with Nike since 1997. This deal would likely dwarf the previous one.
Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Kentucky
This is true. But the fact is at Kentucky the AD can survive football struggling. Cant survive basketball struggling for long.
Reminder for folks in our small bubble that don’t understand how important/powerful football is: Kentucky’s meaningless bowl game 2 yrs ago played at noon on a Friday drew over a million more viewers than the Kentucky vs North Carolina basketball game played on a Saturday night
How would you divide the revenue sharing money? It could vary year to year, but in terms of average I'd say these numbers are good: 28% @KentuckyMBB 67% @UKFootball 5% other sports
FWIW, on the talk about UK BB's NIL share, someone on the football side told me "there is no f---ing way that's true. We couldn't field a team."
According to a new report Kentucky is devoting a much higher portion of its revenue sharing to basketball than the rest of the SEC. on3.com/sites/cats-ill…

Hate to even speculate on it but 45% for basketball sounds like the AD making a leverage play with the football coach, who has, contractually, had the leverage.
One would think 45% of revenue sharing going to basketball, in the SEC, would all but guarantee elite status given the commitment from the league's other schools. I'm not sure 45% for basketball as a regular thing gives you much hope of competing in football.
