📣 New in #animalethics: Drs. Persson, @RodriguezP_Chri, Louis-Maerten, Müller, and Shaw of @ibmbch explore the ethics of killing in animal research and the #3Rs. 🧵 #AnimalWelfare #WelfareWednesday link.springer.com/article/10.100…
🔍 NEW STUDY clarifies the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in animal experimentation. Authors propose revised definitions to address limitations and inconsistencies in current practices, enhancing ethical research. Read more here: 🔗 ow.ly/RYIb50TVmIR
Clarifying the 3Rs 💡 @Edwin_Vethics, @RodriguezP_Chri, & @ibmbch colleagues discuss the inconsistencies & imprecision of the #3Rs and provide specific recommendations for revising them, with a focus on absolute replacement. #sciencetwitter cambridge.org/core/journals/…
Are you a researcher who is currently or has previously been involved in animal research in Switzerland? The @nrp_79 project & @RodriguezP_Chri would like to better understand Swiss based researcher's attitudes to animal research. Take the 15min survey: tinyurl.com/2smy2377
Switzerland will (finally) join the rest of Europe and legalise egg donation, a step further in medically assisted reproduction. What are the important issues to keep in mind when drafting the new legal rules? At @ibmbch we do research on this 👇👇journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/09…
On Thursday, I will be discussing the ethics of killing animals in research at the @Swiss3RCC Cookie Catch Up, as part of our @nrp_79 project EXPLOR3R - @ibmbch. Join us online!
What are the ethics of killing animals in research? The Cookie Catch Up is back this Thursday and we are welcoming Christian Rodriguez Perez, PhD student @UniBasel_en & part of the cantonal animal research commission. Join us this coming Thursday at 1pm: buff.ly/4d9kajL
A new paper by @RodriguezP_Chri, Shaw, @briandavidearp, Elger, & Persson investigated "3R dilemmas in animal research” using experimental bioethics, as well as “cases of speciesism in 3R decision-making." 3/ link.springer.com/article/10.100…

How can #bioxphi shed light on sacrificial dilemmas in animal research? In our new paper, we present a novel approach and offer a practical template. Swiss-based study already underway! Thanks to @ibmbch, @bioxphi Lab, and my co-authors. 🔗 link.springer.com/article/10.100…

In society, we tend to have children later in life. Policymakers often describe the "postponement" of parenthood as a worrying trend. But we know very little about how older parents experience raising children later in life. At @ibmb we study this topic journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…
It is argued that ethical xenotransplantation could require genetic pain disenhancement in pigs. We advocate for prioritizing alternatives and highlight the importance of considering non-sentientist harms. @Edwin_Vethics - @ibmbch Read our response: jme.bmj.com/content/early/…
🇨🇭 Transparency in animal experimentation: Swiss laws inform the public about aspects like species and severity, but key info on e.g. surplus animals and funding is missing. Our article explores how legal updates could fill these gaps. @ibmbch @nrp_79 🔗mdpi.com/2076-2615/14/1…
