Don’t minimize what a total dog Chris Bassitt is and was tonight. He came up so huge tonight.
lol
Yankees interested in Ryan McMahon as backup plan to Eugenio Suarez, per @Feinsand.
Jays have lowest K% in ⚾️, but that's hard to put into context because the lowest K% in 2025 would have been the highest in the league for decades. Putting it into context vs lg avg, where 100 is avg and lower is better .. it's one of best since WW2. fangraphs.com/leaders/major-…
Weird question: what is considered a sell out at Rogers Centre this year for a Jays game? Today’s game had 42,015 announced as the attendance. That was the most this year passing June 21st that had 41,488. There must be a number they would say is a ‘sell out’, no?
If you’re wondering what kind of athlete the new Jays draft pick is he was also a decent Texas highschool football player
🎥: 2025 Texas A&M baseball commit Blaine Bullard takes a kick off to the house last night for Klein Cain. @BlaineBullard3 | @KleinCain
For those who don’t follow the draft much, he would have gone much earlier but the assumption was he wasn’t signing and was going to Texas A&M. Jays saved money with their other picks so they could offer him a massive deal. Big ceiling player worth being excited about.
Huge signing by the jays.
Huge signing by the jays.
12th-rder Blaine Bullard signs w/@BlueJays for $1,697,500 ($1,547,500 counts vs pool). Texas HS OF, plus speed & knows how to use it on the bases & in center field. Texas A&M recruit. Largest bonus outside of top four rds so far in 2025 @MLBDraft.
The new episode of Launch Angle is a roundtable of sorts with @PhilDussault27 @RealJRAnderson @The_Gildz @jeffwzimmerman joining @RobSilver & @deadpullhitter We start by going team by team with any actionable/interesting before diving into strategy talk creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/ro…
Another way to look at this - Smoltz won his CY in 1996 He had an incredible year His ERA- was 69. 31% > avg adjusted for context As of today, 16 qualified SPs have a ERA- of 69 or better. Starting pitchers are actually dominant right now - but that’s not Smoltz’s narrative
John Smoltz warns we may not see another generational pitcher. "Give it three years."
The most important thing baseball can do to ‘change the narrative’ would be replace curmudgeons like Smoltz with announcers who appreciate modern baseball How can you watch Skubal the last 2 years, for example and not think he’s a ‘generational pitcher’? (Charlie Morton. lol)
John Smoltz warns we may not see another generational pitcher. "Give it three years."
There are about 15 teams who want to trade for a ‘top of the rotation’ starter before the deadline. There are also about 15 teams who are about to fight over Charlie Morton because there are no actual top of rotation starters being traded.
Eovaldi has a better ERA, WHIP, K-BB% and more wins than for example Paul Skenes. He’s having a remarkable year.
I feel like not enough people are talking about how Nathan Eovaldi has a 1.58 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 16 starts this season...
Byron Buxton has surpassed 400 plate appearances once in his career He has 6 seasons of better than 3 fWAR - which for an outfielder is a great season
BYRON BUXTON HOMERS TO COMPLETE THE CYCLE
One day the Dodgers will finally get ownership that doesn’t act like they’re a small market team and instead tries to put a decent product on the field. Until then thoughts and prayers for Dodgers fans are all I’ve got.
Imagine if Dodgers had paid Willy Adames. Then you get a real SS. Mookie Betts could be in right field where he belongs. And Teoscar Hernandez would be in left field where he needs to be.
I’ve posted this before 2015 was the first time I ever saw the team I cheered for make the playoffs - I was almost 40 & was a fan since I was 9 Expos never did They died, Jays didn’t until then All I value as a fan is meaningful baseball for 6-months It’s everything
I’m a weird baseball fan Enjoying stretches like the Jays are giving me right now -meaningful, fun, good baseball -brings me so much joy Thinking about the next few months? So good. This is baseball to me October? I care. But it’s random. This isn’t hockey. Give me this
