My book tells the story of the extraordinary relationship between Brian Walden and Margaret Thatcher. Next year a new @Channel4 drama based on my book will land, starring Harriet Walter & Steve Coogan, script by @mrJamesGraham, directed by Stephen Frears. deadline.com/2024/06/channe…
That’s incredibly kind, thank you.
Rob this left me a bit crestfallen, I was not aware of you having Parkinson’s (albeit why should I?). Your courage in writing this piece is in keeping with the integrity & high standard I regard as hallmarks of your journalism
Next cut to watch out for: only running Politics Live on Wednesdays for PMQS which is often the least interesting day of the week. I’d oppose this one early because otherwise it’ll just happen. Long mooted by clueless bean counters as an easy saving.
Well, if you continually support cutting the BBC then I’m shocked you’re shocked that eventually something you value will be cut.
Silly
Politics Live likes to control the narrative and the choice of guests, essentially a propaganda vehicle for Robbie Gibb, more difficult when at conference.

Very disappointed by Politics Live’s decision not to go to Party Conferences. Conferences are an essential part of the political process in the UK and a chance to engage with members and volunteers (and not just MPs) as well as getting the ‘mood’. I hope they think again.
I’d be lying if I said I was shocked. Years of cuts plus a BBC News management that isn’t interested in politics and is too busy dealing with the latest self-lit bin fire to think about the core functions of the BBC.
The BBC has decided not to send its flagship Politics Live programme to party conferences this year, PolHome understands A former culture secretary said it was a "further erosion" of the BBC's political coverage, and urged the corporation to think again politicshome.com/news/article/b…
A name evocative of a late 70s childhood loving the European Cup winning Reds. Sad news.
A Welsh football legend. 🏴 Speaking back in 2017, Joey Jones reflects on becoming Wales’ first European Cup winner, joining Liverpool from Wrexham, and the banner that made him feel 10 feet tall. ❤️

Diagnosed 3 + years ago with PD you sent me some wonderfuly kind words of encouragement…. I’ve kept my diagnosis private and never enjoyed visits to OPD to witness what the future holds, it’s too scary.Perhaps u can educate the morons on behalf of all of us with PD,thanks Rob
Molly has vg judgement so I’m grateful for this endorsement!
This is so good
“You can’t hide your Parkinson’s forever: My TV appearance was a reality check” What a brutally honest piece by @RobBurl. Thanks for your frankness. unherd.com/2025/07/you-ca…
Your article really resonated. I’m in that early stage of Parkinson’s where I feel at times like an Olympian athlete and at other times like a decrepit old man. Thanks for writing it and sharing your condition. 👍
Quite apart from any other aspect of the content involved here I’m probably most chudfed about the headline which makes an oblique reference to one of my favourite albums

Great piece, Rob. It’s clear who the Twats are - and you aren’t one of them…
Here is my considered position on having Parkinson’s and accepting that four years in, people are now able to spot it.
…”But I now know that one day I’ll have to stop running and take my place in the group”. The excellent @RobBurl on how and why you can't hide your Parkinson's forever - Just take the time to read. UnHerd unherd.com/2025/07/you-ca…
You write so bravely and so beautifully about this @RobBurl and you’re doing a huge service to those with Parkinson’s and those of us who need to understand it more 🤗🤗
Thank you Julie
This is an important piece, about a much misunderstood condition, and the rank cruelty and insensitivity of some people. @RobBurl: x.com/unherd/status/…
