Dropping food from the air in Gaza is an ineffective sideshow. During my time as UN relief chief we had to stop such aid. Minimal amounts were delivered and chaos and accidents occurred on the ground. All entries into Gaza have to be opened and distribution handed back to UN.

A deal between the EU and US provides much needed certainty. While Ireland regrets a baseline tariff of 15%, it is important that we now have more certainty on the foundations for the EU-US trade relationship. This is essential for jobs, growth and investment. My statement:
🇪🇺🇺🇸An agreement on tariffs with the US brings much-needed stability at least & an end to constant threats. However, we must never forget that tariffs are always bad for everyone. The EU should keep pushing for a vision of trade that reduces tariffs & increases prosperity for all

Welcome announcement of humanitarian pauses in Gaza to allow our aid through. In contact with our teams on the ground who will do all we can to reach as many starving people as we can in this window.
Glad to join President @vonderleyen in Scotland this Sunday for an important discussion with @POTUS on strengthening transatlantic trade.
Following a good call with @POTUS, we have agreed to meet in Scotland on Sunday to discuss transatlantic trade relations, and how we can keep them strong.
This week, we set out our plan to transform Ireland. It provides the certainty needed to deliver infrastructure in this country over the next decade. Now it’s time to get on with the job.

Fine Gael is taking real action on housing. That’s why Minister John Cummins is introducing plans to allow for modular-style homes in back gardens to be exempt from planning permission. A public consultation will begin soon where you can have your say on exempted developments
Mass starvation is stalking Gaza and children are starving before our eyes. We need an immediate and permanent ceasefire now. Israel must lift its blockade on aid and Hamas must release the hostages. The genocide must stop.
Crucially, the final negotiations will take place during the Irish Presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2026 meaning that Irish Ministers and MEPs will play a leading role in defining the final structure of the CAP. anglocelt.ie/2025/07/17/the…
