Deacon in the PCA. I try to read a lot. Watching God work to humble me, destroy my self-reliance, and make me more like him.
When on the one hand I want to mute him so I don't have to experience the blood pressure issues he casues, and on the other hand really want to respond and roast him... I'm gonna mute.
The curse of Genesis 3 is not patriarchy. The curse is that the woman, apart from God’s sanctifying grace, will despise patriarchy.
Wake up early. Going to be at the office early. Then I realize that I forgot to run the dishwasher last night so I have to hand wash everything before I go. 🤦♂️
What a bizarre "miracle." Miracles in the Bible were never inconsequential like this. Rather, public healings (Acts) and fire from heaven (Elijah) were used to demonstrate the power of the gospel to unbelievers.
Every year—even today—thousands gather in Naples to witness a miracle. A vial holding the 1,700-year-old blood of St. Januarius turns from a crusted solid to bright flowing liquid. It’s done this for 600+ years on three fixed dates—unless doom is near. The strange miracle 🧵:
Praise God for faithful leaders like MacArthur, and pray for his successors at Grace Baptist and the Master's Seminary to be even more faithful. Seeing other believers fall asleep reminds me that I too will get to meet my Lord face-to-face sometime in the next 60 years.
Our hearts are heavy, yet rejoicing, as we share the news that our beloved pastor and teacher John MacArthur has entered into the presence of the Savior. This evening, his faith became sight. He faithfully endured until his race was run. 2 Timothy 4:1-8
Liberals: "Why are they celebrating July 4?" Patriarchalists: "At least he didn't have a woman up there. Women should never do Tae Kwon Do from the pulpit." Soft complementarians: "If an unordained man can kick authoritatively..." Reformed: "Why are they celebrating July 4?"
Revive Baptist Church invited Rex Kwon Do to threaten roundhouse kicks to the face during their 'Patriotic Sunday' service this past weekend.
Great summary of the Wisdom literature.
The Song of Songs assumes Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Proverbs teaches the self control and denial of self love needed for communion with your Husband. Ecclesiastes teaches the denial of earthly vanity to seek all in your Husband. Song of Songs presents your Husband to you.
I'm starting to look for non-Doug-Wilsonish books on complimentarianism. Any good ideas? Looking for something that would make both Keller and Piper uncomfortable (i.e., not focused on cultural norms or what women can/cannot do).
I respect and appreciate Keller. I've learned a lot from him, but the world has changed a lot. If you're someone who wants to "contextualize" the gospel like Keller taught, it's probably going to look increasingly different than what Keller did.

I find I like visiting churches where I don’t have an oath to study their purity and peace. They are filled with doctrinal and liturgical errors, but I can just worship with a bunch of flawed saints. In my church (or any PCA) I get distracted evaluating everything. Is this right?
"I fix all the blame of these extraordinary American proceedings upon the Presbyterians … They have been the chief and principal instruments in all these flaming measures" -Galloway, Loyalist Pamphleteer from NY
In his Body of Practical Divinity, John Gill observes 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 every 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 has 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. What a helpful list! 🧵🧵
Just found April’s @thepresbygirls podcast episode with my fellow Hillsdale alum @rdhasler. Great encouragement in there for parents, church members, et al. Thanks guys!
I was ordained as a deacon today. Pray for faithfulness, humility, and sensitivity to the needs of the church.
Chrysostom's meditations on how Christ loves the church: He espoused her as a wife He loves her as a daughter He provides for her as a handmaid He guards her as a virgin He fences round her like a garden And cherishes her like a member As a head He provides for her As…
Do we accept the baptism of UMC or UCC atheists and unitarians? How about if someone was dunked in the river by a friend with no local church involvement? The former 2 are not true churches (none of the 3 marks), and the last is not church at all. Where is the line?
