The Forgotten Anglican

1662 BCP with an appreciation for the best of the American heritage.
The Anglican "formularies" are the authoritative and definitional documents for Anglicanism. Yes, technically each province can decide on its own, but the ones that serve as the historical and global authorities are as follows: 39 Articles 1662 BCP The Ordinal (cont.)
The ongoing fandango in the ACNA ecclesiastical trial of +Ruch highlights another change to look for (or demand) in the upcoming Title IV proposals: ecclesiastical trials should be open to interested persons and the media unless the court closes a session as authorized by canon.
Update on the Ruch trial. It claims that no objections were made at the time. Runyan's choice to resign looks worse and worse now.
Well, this is an interesting development! Given the unusual nature of the former prosecutor's actions and allegations, this definitely bears reading and carries a bit of weight. tinyurl.com/3p895xtw
"Thomism" as some sort of a package deal is a waste (and impossible, certainly for Prots). Get over the dumb anti-Thomas bias that 20th cent neo-Cals gave you, but don't swing over into "Thomism is just classic Christianity" position. And feel free to mix and match this stuff.
I should agree with this, but do we have any evidence that proves that robustly liturgical churches retain their children better than SBCs or big-box Evas?
When a church does not have a robust liturgy, those who suffer the most are the children. They conclude that church is a performance on stage they watch, not a gospel they *participate* in. It's a matter of time before they grow up disenchanted with Christianity.
Having slept on it and re-read everything, Runyan looks bad. I don't doubt that members of the court misbehaved, but he made the wrong decision.
Runyan's actions appear even less explicable after reading this well-done article by Kathryn Post - why quit? Why not seek a ruling from the Court's legal advisor? Why not seek the rogue member's excusal? Perhaps he was just tired and frustrated.
