Those acts are already illegal under existing religious hate crime laws. People have *already* been sentenced for those crimes (I will link below.) I asked the Minister leading on this work to send me examples of anti-Muslim hate incidents which were not covered by existing law.…
Protecting believers, not beliefs. For example: bacon pinned to mosque doors, bricks thrown through mosque windows, hijabs being pulled from women’s heads, abuse directed at people because of their religion. All things that have happened to my Muslim constituents.
Why are 7 males still in HMP Downview, a women’s prison, @ShabanaMahmood? Staggering that this breach of rights is happening in 2025.
101 days since the Supreme Court clarified sex = biological sex and no man can be treated as a woman for any purposes. Single sex services including prisons must be single sex! Why are violent men being placed with vulnerable women @ShabanaMahmood ? #SingleSex101
Useful thread for anyone worried about s179 of the Online Safety Act.
Total scaremongering I'm afraid🧵👇 1️⃣ There is already, in force, an offence of knowingly making a false communication for the purpose of annoying someone (s. 127(2) Communications Act 2003). 2️⃣ s 179 OSA will repeal and replace s 127(2) and is more protective of free speech
The US has withdrawn its negotiating team from Qatar after Hamas yet again refused to cooperate during ceasefire talks. There are still 50 hostages remaining in Gaza, brutally taken from their homes on October 7th. The French Government’s decision to unilaterally recognise a…
We have decided to bring our team home from Doha for consultations after the latest response from Hamas, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good…
Labour caved to the unions, and now they’re back for more. We told Wes Streeting this would happen, but he wasn’t listening. Now, we’re looking at a summer of strikes. @Conservatives are the only Party who would stand up to the unions.
Today is a big day in online safety as OFCOM’s Protection of Children Codes take effect. This means, where necessary, platforms must put age verification measures in place to stop children accessing harmful and/or inappropriate content, such as pornography. The effectiveness of…
Pleased to see the online world being made a bit safer from today with the requirement for age verification on sites with adult content. This new law was put in place by the previous Conservative Government. #OnlineSafetyAct

If Labour genuinely think that 16 year olds are ready to have the vote why does this graphic look like an invitation to a six-year-old’s birthday party?
We promised it. We're delivering it. Like we said we would.
This is a safeguarding disaster. Any school staff that distribute these badges to children - encouraging them to accompany adults to the toilet on request- need to be reported to the school’s designated safeguarding lead and the local authority’s child protection department.
A 'non-binary' BBC presenter has launched a project in which she distributes badges, saying 'Safe With Me', in schools, for children to wear in public places. They will signify to any 'trans people' nearby that the child will escort them to a toilet swlondoner.co.uk/news/23072025-…
Conservatives will build the homes families need, but we won’t concrete over every green field to do it.
According to this article, this male is held in HMP Downview, a woman’s prison, so will be sharing facilities and services with female prisoners. Is this true @ShabanaMahmood? brightonandhovenews.org/2024/07/24/bri…

36 days of silence on the rape gangs inquiry. Today on the final day of parliament until summer recess, the Home Office have provided no update to Parliament about progress on the national inquiry into grooming gangs. The government completely fails to understand how fragile…

When the Government says the quiet part out loud…
There are 1.3 million people on social housing waiting lists in England alone. But Keir Starmer believes there’s ‘lots of housing’ spare we should be giving to illegal migrants That’s madness. What is he going on about?

Powerful and insightful speech on why we must stand with our veterans.
Standing up for Northern Ireland veterans. Declaring an interest…
We brought in the two-child benefit limit because people on benefits should make the same choices as everyone else. Reform want more benefits. Starmer won’t say what he believes. Today @Conservatives are forcing a vote in Parliament to find out.
Labour’s record on education is a litany of broken promises. Schools promised compensation for their jobs tax face huge shortfalls. Nurseries got nothing & are on the brink. A key pledge of 6,500 more teachers has delivered 400 fewer. Children, teachers, & parents deserve better.
