Kechki FRH & its environs in Palamau tiger reserve are an integral part of Ray’s Aranyer Din Ratri, a restored version of which was screened at Cannes. But unlike the film that became eternal, the Kechki of the film exists no more. This is the story of Ray’s Kechki & its demise.+
Forest bunglows have many such stories associated with them. Interestingly forest bunglows are not called a ‘guest house’, but a ‘rest house’. These FRHs are basically meant for forest officers who used to spent weeks in them during their field days.
