Dems say they want a bipartisan appropriations process while simultaneously threatening to derail a bipartisan appropriations process. This will be the first approps bill on the Senate floor since 2023 because the Democrat majority refused to put any on the floor last year.
Passing the Senate’s approps bills would achieve what Dems say they want — a bipartisan appropriations process. And the Senate bills call for more spending than the House GOP-drafted bills. But top Dems are casting doubt on the notion of helping Republicans pass any of them,…
Historic obstruction ⬇️ "Democrats have refused to allow a single confirmation by unanimous consent or voice vote, a courtesy usually extended to at least some of the president's lower-level nominees."

Record-breaking @SenateGOP majority: ✅Cabinet confirmation (fastest in 20+ years) ✅Votes cast (most in 35+ years) ✅Continuous work period (longest in 15 yrs) ✅Ambassadors confirmed (most in first 100 days since Reagan) ✅Prevented largest tax hike in American history
Reminds me of when Dems attempted to dunk with the ole “we reduced gas by $0.02 per gallon” chart.
The Senate hasn’t taken this many roll call votes by July in a single year since the creation of the World Wide Web.

Despite the fact that Democrats have forced roll call votes on 100% of Trump’s civilian nominees this year (unprecedented) — plus cloture votes on all but one — the Senate has still confirmed roughly twice as many people as it did by this point in his first administration.

I'm pleased that we managed to begin the appropriations process on a bipartisan basis this week, and I hope it will continue that way. Hopefully this is a sign that Democrats’ implicit threats to shut down the government will be left by the wayside.
Fun was had by all. No backflips, though. @HolmesJosh @ComfortablySmug @MichaelDuncan @JohnAshbrook @RuthlessPodcast

The Big Beautiful Bill sets aside a $50 billion fund specifically to support rural hospitals- any claims they’re closing because of the bill are a lie.
Senate is confirming civilian nominees at 2x speed compared to first Trump administration, despite Democrats’ unprecedented level of obstruction.
The @SenateGOP under @LeaderJohnThune just confirmed President Trump’s 100th civilian nominee! At this same point in the first Trump administration, only 54 were confirmed.
“President Trump is the first president on record not to have a single civilian nominee go by unanimous consent or voice vote at this point in his presidency. “The first president on record. Think about that.”
Highlighting the historic level of Democrat obstruction: Trump is the only president on record to be denied a voice vote or unanimous consent confirmation for one of his nominees.
THUNE says "we're thinking about" adjusting August recess to confirm more of President Trump's nominees. "It would be nice to have Democrats who actually would kind of act more according to historical precedents." He notes POTUS hasn't had a nom confirmed by unanimous consent.
The Senate has already taken more roll call votes through July than in a majority of *full years* in the last three-plus decades. The @SenateGOP has been hard at work for the American people.

.@LeaderJohnThune promised to put appropriations bills on the floor in 2025. Next week, the bipartisan MilCon-VA bill will be the first approps bill on the Senate floor since 2023. Why? Dems intentionally chose to not consider a single one in 2024 when they were in the majority.
Will Senate Democrats block 100% of federal spending and shut down the federal government simply because Republicans identified waste and cut what amounted to 0.1% of spending? #SchumerShutdown
Senate Democrats face a key test next week as Majority Leader John Thune tees up a bipartisan funding bill vote that could tell us a lot about the likelihood of a government shutdown. More from @AndrewDesiderio —punchbowl.news/article/senate…
Thune can control a lot of things, but he can't control whether or not Democrats will force a government shutdown. That's entirely on them. #SchumerShutdown
Schumer slams Vought & says Trump should fire him. When asked how Dems will handle approps bills on floor — which could come as soon as next week — Schumer said: “Ask the Republicans. Ask them where they are at about these horrible comments… Ask Thune: Should Vought be fired?”
