Best possible solution to the problem. The reason a name is required to be written is that one is voting for a person to be elected, not a party. Which is why if an MP leaves office midterm, a by-election is required. A party can not just switch an MP without first being elected.

That was weird. Voted today for #Election2025. First time ever in any election, my identity was challenged. My driver's licence has always had only my first & last name. She wanted a different ID (passport?) that included my middle name. What? Her colleague said no, it was OK.

Simple. To be in the debate, a party must meet 2 of 3 criteria. 1. An elected MP in last parliament 2. Candidates in 90% of 343 ridings 3. Minimum 4% national aggregate support 28 days before election. Greens meet only number 1. PPC meet only number 2. BQ meet numbers 1 & 3.
