Dear Friends, This past weekend has been something rather special indeed. From all of us at the Talyllyn Railway we cannot thank you enough for coming to the Awdry Extravaganza 2025 - so many have travelled so very far to visit our little railway and we are so very grateful.

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a little railway in Wales, and attending an extravaganza, And it reminded me of how much I used to enjoy posting here, So for my first tweet in a while, I can say, I officially own the Workman who repaired the refreshment ladies coach

This was all a tiny bit bonkers. But every single face was wearing a smile - and that was down to the fantastic effort put in by @TalyllynRailway staff and an army of volunteers who made this weekend's Awdry gala such a success. Huge thanks and well done everybody!

The Awdry Extravaganza 2025 celebrates the life and legacy of the Rev. W. Awdry, creator of Thomas the Tank Engine and one of the earliest volunteers on the Talyllyn Railway. This three-day event from 18 to 20 July 2025 is the ultimate celebration of his most enduring creation.
