Well put together popular book here by @_AndersSorensen on hyperbolic tapering and other aspects of stopping psych drugs. Will hopefully make the concepts in the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines more accessible to the public.

Does so-called anti-depressant discontinuation syndrome deserve more attention? In a recent study, ~50% of people that cut down their use had severe withdrawal and ~50% who tried to quit stated they could not due to withdrawal. nytimes.com/2018/04/07/hea…
We published a systematic review on post-acute antidepressant withdrawal. The literature confirms that the syndrome exists, but beyond that the evidence base is very sparse and poor. No reliable or conclusive data on epidemiology and clinical management cambridge.org/core/services/…
“Withdrawal” vs. “discontinuation syndrome” Interesting.
How to stop an antidepressant? New review finds longer tapers worked better pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37718853 And gives a shout out to the “hyperbolic” taper: thecarlatreport.com/articles/2968-… How to microdose tapers: psycheducation.org/blog/how-to-mi… #antidepressant #deprescribe #mentalhealth #depression
Deprescribing of antidepressants has to be done with careful tapering off the dosage, or withdrawal syndrome can result. Withdrawal syndrome can be unpleasant, debilitating, or even disabling.
Anti-depressant discontinuation A thread 📝 Think carefully before de-prescribing anti-depressants. A very unpleasant syndrome can occur if stopped abruptly, including towards end of life. A few things to consider
Excellent tips for @GeriSoc members on effective deprescribing of medications for older people living with frailty. Thanks @Louise1401 !
As a lover of podcasts, I was excited to be asked to interview with my colleague Katie Roberts on the "Conversations in Frailty" podcast with community specialist GP Dr. Sarah Morris. If you listen, let me know your thoughts! open.spotify.com/episode/15725T…

Unnecessary polypharmacy is a leading indicator for #deprescribing.
“More meds, more problems.” Dr. Parag Goyal unpacked the clinical & financial toxicity of polypharmacy at #CharlestonHFpEF. Time to rethink the med list—because less may be more! #HFpEF #Deprescribing #AdditionBySubtraction @ParagGoyalMD @LitwinSheldon
I published this paper on epigenetic side-effects of medications in 2009, and believe it explains a significant percentage of the chronic disease epidemic. researchgate.net/publication/26… @HHSGov @CDCgov @CDCEnvironment @NIH @NSF @US_FDA @SecKennedy @RobertKennedyJr @HHS_Jim…

Reminder from a neuropsychologist. When you’re down about the fact that Trauma Changes The Brain I want you to remember: SO. DOES. HEALING. @drjenwolkin SO. DOES. HEALING. SO. DOES. HEALING.
In the UK, after 30 years of denial and ongoing deliberate minimisation in recent Kalfas paper- we finally have one single NHS deprescribing clinic thanks to @markhoro and patient campaigning.
In @NHSGGC we have done large public & prescriber engagement around waste & deprescribing attitudes to inform action. Awareness of when/how to access med review needs improved. 33% sitting on side effects; 15-20% feel one/ more meds unnecessary. High trust in us to support 🤝
