Read this very carefully: *One quarter* of all the people who have died of starvation in Gaza over the past 22 months have died in the past *3 days*
Pete writing about westerns? What more could you want tbh

Buddy perhaps see how your first clause (mindless as it is) may be related to the second clause. Namely that “Israel’s right to defend itself” is a slogan that—despite not involving a spooky Arabic word—has followed 1000X more killing and maiming than any evocation of “intifada”
I’ve always supported Israel’s right to exist and defend itself. That hasn’t changed. But supporting this government’s actions—allowing children to starve and firing on civilians seeking food—is something I can’t stand by. This isn’t self-defense. It must stop.
Hot damn we got a new Peter essay drop let’s fuckin gooooooooo

This is fantastic, of course, as Peter's right always is, and I hope it encourages people to watch more "classic" era Westerns. One of the richest and most cinematically enthralling classical film genres

You can make a difference in the lives of people facing the unimaginable right now, please share/donate if you can.
From the heart of the camp⛺️, in the midst of suffering and displacement, I extend my heartfelt thanks to my friend @willmenaker and all of his kind followers for their support and donations to our campaign🔗(chuffed.org/project/129541…) smiles have returned to our children’s faces —…
$235 received, thank you… just a reminder that conditions in Gaza compound to produce illness, the starvation and stress and (bombing-induced) physical wounds and unserviced, horribly unhygienic living quarters all exacerbate infection and common conditions like heart arrhythmia
An incredibly generous donation was received from an amazing person. However, we are still $670 from the goal unfortunately, due to the high cost of commission in Gaza that I had not accounted for. Please continue to share.
For the evening crowd: I went long on some westerns

A real treat to read Peter on two hard-edged counterpoints to the colloquial notion of the "revisionist western" - a slippery proposition as a denomination for theme that attempts to assign temporal specificity to ruminations nearly as old as the genre itself.

After rejecting Hamas’s proposals, these very terms have been added into the negotiations by Israel for several months now, in fact.
"Demilitarisation of Palestine"? As Israel commits genocide in its most sadistic forms, are new conditions being quietly slipped into the defunct peace process? And still no word on justice, accountability, or reparations, without which peace is unacceptable (post-WWII history…
this opens with a graf solely about what a ceasefire would mean for israel. palestinians who are suffering from genocide and starvation get no mention. they might as well not exist. a pretty good summation of how the nyt views this situation.

The process is nearing its conclusion. The US has finally put an end to the charade of these peace negotiations, and the situation is so grim that it is finally time for the mainstream press to describe Gaza accurately. We’re just about at everyone always having been against it.

It is true that Hamas can get aid into Gaza by agreeing to a ceasefire. Which is exactly what Hamas did in January, an agreement Netanyahu violated, and since then has been trying to force Hamas into a different agreement, which he will later violate. The US can end this farce.
The US can stop this at any time.
