Peter Ratcliffe, forever Canadian 🇨🇦
@PeterHRatcliffe
Married once and still to my beautiful patient wife/best friend, father of a beautiful doctor and a fallen firefighter hero, and best of all grandfather to two.
I get comments and DM from the right wondering how I live with myself supporting what I support, and dissing some of my commentary as full of empty platitudes. So here's who I am, in a series of Tweets: /..2
This person is either a fabulist or a rank liar. The Convoyeurs had a manifesto in which they called on the Senate (?) and the Governor General (?!) to unseat the Prime Minister. And they held a press conference to say they're ready to serve in government ($%^&#). Sit this out.
There was never dialogue, because the Liberals never wanted resolution. They wanted justification to invoke the emergencies act. I walked the convoy every day, the people I spoke with daily, desperately wanted to be heard. They wanted to go home. Liberals have proven time and…
MAGA tariffs: 🔴Beef: more expensive 🔴Coffee: more expensive 🔴Amazon: raises prices by 5.2% on low cost items since tariffs announced 🔴GM: takes a $1.1B hit 🔴Stellantis: $2.7B loss Is America great yet?
For the non-mathematicians in the room, you cannot reduce a price by more than 100%. At 100% reduction, it’s free. If it’s free it can’t get any cheaper. The President is preaching directly to the un-educated.
🚨BREAKING: President Trump just announced he's reducing drug prices by over 1,000%. "We will have reduced drugs prices by a 1000%, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400… Not 30 or 50%." God bless President Trump!
Oh my God, you total jackasses. EVERY country had a notable drop in life expectancy circa 2020. And you know why: COVID. Maybe you don't know that the USA had a WORSE drop in life expectancy, and started from a lower base to begin with!
Canada had a notable drop in life expectancy since 2020: "Being on the side of reality and facts is so against the narrative... they're willing to ignore an increase in all-cause mortality."
I don’t care if Poilievre wins the by-election. He isn’t going to win a general election or bounce back in popularity by doing the same old. The CPC will eventually tire of him. It’s just that our government would benefit from serious, intelligent and constructive opposition now.
Long ballot problem solved: Candidates for elections should be required to deposit $5k to be included on ballot, 100% refundable if they receive >5k votes. All non-refunded deposits will be donated to charity within the riding. Charities chosen by the winner of the election.
Barber and Lich did not just inconvenience and disrupt the peace of many thousands of people for three weeks, they enriched themselves in the process. That, coupled with a total lack of remorse or sincere apology is why I believe the Crown’s request for jail time is just.
It is the position of the US Ambassador to Canada to understand why Canadians are doing what they are doing and report back to their Authoritarian leader. It is not their position to lecture Canada on what we choose to buy for ourselves. We don’t like your leader we won’t buy.
Let’s get this straight: The accused conceived and led a protest inconvenienced many thousands of citizens over more than three weeks, causing significant property damage and loss of enjoyment of life that citizens are entitled to. Also, politicians should not comment on justice
Let’s get this straight: while rampant violent offenders are released hours after their most recent charges & antisemitic rioters vandalize businesses, terrorize daycares & block traffic without consequences, the Crown wants 7 years prison time for the charge of mischief for Lich…
Canadians have had a glimpse of Parliament without the hyperbolic obstructive rage of @PierrePoilievre , and seem to prefer Parliament without Pierre.
Wow! Just wow….
Bonnie Critchley, when elected will sit as an independent without support of a larger party. Yet, simply by defeating @PierrePoilievre she will have done more for the @CPC_HQ than @PierrePoilievre has accomplished since he became leader.
Tariffs to import into the US on countries who buy things from other countries is just stupid. Imagine a Ford dealer planning to charge you 50% more for a new Ford simply because you drove in with a Honda. Tariffs are bullying, not a replacement for bilateral diplomacy.
I regularly block people that I have never interacted with. Based on their posts showing up in my feed, due to some undefinable algorithm, I check their profile and determine is I want to ever interact with them or not. If not, I block. I’ll check Farhan now.
I find it crazy when I stumble upon people on the left, who I have never interacted with, who have blocked me There is this whole subsection of pro-Carney Twitter that I have no visibility to
Social media viralizes human stupidity and failure at a much greater rate than it celebrates human intelligence and kindness. Sure, blame Coldplay when it’s all really just bad human nature for some people to irresponsibly cheat and be stupidly arrogant at the same time.
Well worth a read. Understanding this is critical for the next few decades as the US has passed its peak borrowing ability and will have problems externalizing its growing public debt. China has become smarter than the US with longer vision as the US flexes weakly, China builds.
China has stopped buying U.S. debt. The dollar system is cracking. This isn’t just an economic shift. It’s the end of the old world order. Here's what comes next. ft.com/content/894c1c…
I tried explaining crypto to my nine year old and she said, “It sounds like someone is trying to sell you their imaginary friend.”
Bonnie Critchley, who sounds like a rational constructive Conservative, will have more of a voice as an independent MP in a very tight minority parliament, than @PierrePoilievre will have as a cobbled back together Frankenstein like rage farmer @CPC_HQ leader.
Conservative friend in Stettler says #CPC needs a new leader asap so he's voting for Bonnie Critchley. Conservative voters in #BattleRiverCrowfoot have the power to put a final nail in @PierrePoilievre political coffin. Do it!
Now, for the next six years invest whatever the car payment was for the last six years. Use some of that money to maintain your car well. Then you’ll have a great big deposit readable to buy your next car. Consider a 2 year old low mileage well maintained used car next time.
Finally, after busting my ass to pay it off, the car I have been driving for the last six years is now mine, I have the title, brand new plates, it has 95,923 miles but you know what, I’m proud that I’ve worked mysweet ass off to pay it
The new "Canada/Mexico Trade Corridor" will cost the American economy $102 Billion over the next 4 years while adding about $37 Billion each to Canada's and Mexico's economies over the same time period. Gracias amigo.
