The auditor was not needed to be concerned. These officers were convicted, pardoned by Trump, and when they were hired back, you could have heard a pin drop from most of the Council. Why does Pinto's concern fall short of calling for an MPD without officers who break the law?
The death of Karon Hylton-Brown was a tragedy for his family and our entire community. MPD officers have an affirmative responsibility to act with care, ensure the safety of the public, and follow the law and MPD protocols. As Chair of the Committee on the Judiciary and Public…

Have yet to come across a DC resident with RFK on the top of their minds But on… -Helping homeless -More affordable housing -Fully funded schools -support for small local businesses -full representation as a state Hard to count the people more concerned with those issues
Is RFK Now! a grassroots group, though? It’s an initiative of Opportunity D.C., an independent expenditure group that has received tens of thousands of dollars from real estate companies, the Graham family (former WaPo owners), and more.
Two things: 1) The D.C. Council kinda shot itself in the foot when it passed a new law giving itself more chances to meet behind closed doors. 2) It's kinda hilariously cynical that Republicans say they are fighting for transparency in D.C.
Congress must shine a light on D.C.’s hidden backroom deals. Transparency is non-negotiable. That’s why I’ve introduced legislation alongside @SenMikeLee to ensure D.C. officials are accountable to the public and Congress.
Every day, the horrors in Gaza reach new, unimaginable depths. And as starvation spreads, Netanyahu and Trump remain complicit in a scheme to use US taxpayer dollars to replace humanitarian aid orgs with mercenaries — leading to more death and devastation. This cannot continue.…
Ah, the unique position a DC citizen finds themselves in: The Council & Mayor cheapened democracy and transparency with this act, but by golly!, it’s our duty to reject this and vote them out, not a random representative who’s spent less time in DC than any of us #DCStatehood

A+
Not content with hurting the country and their own constituents, House Republicans are once again treating D.C.’s 700,000 residents like political pawns. Keep your hands OFF D.C. This is why we need to pass my D.C. statehood bill with @EleanorNorton. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/…
The @wrd3dc passed a resolution addressing this months ago and we still have not heard back from @CMFrumin. Or @MayorBowser…or @ChmnMendelson @RobertWhite_DC @AnitaBondsDC @chenderson @kenyanmcduffie
The @DCPoliceDept Disciplinary Review Division recommended that Officer Terrence Sutton and Lieutenant Andrew Zabavsky be fired for misconduct in the 2020 traffic death of Karon Hylton-Brown, actions rejected by Chief Pamela Smith, according to our report: bit.ly/4kQWXGQ
Eye opener. Christian Nationalist podcaster with wide reach proclaims too much empathy is the problem. Gets particularly animated defending police killings and deportations. All in for obscure wall building scripture but not one mention of “love your neighbor” 🤷♂️
This week's episode of Interesting Times is a conversation with Allie Beth Stuckey: youtube.com/watch?v=wfhAtL…
Israel has murdered 17,000 children in Gaza. It’s been a continuous, systematic campaign of annihilation, all made possible by unflinching U.S support, both in the form of weapons and diplomatic cover.
What can’t a successful middle school teacher do?!?
Listening to this fantastic @jamestalarico interview with Joe Rogan and I keep thinking about this study that found that the ideal progressive candidate to win back working class voters is a middle school teacher
In the birthplace of our democracy—Philadelphia—we proudly joined @theyoungdemocrats Convention, where young leaders from across the country passed a resolution in support of DC Statehood. 700k+ American citizens in DC demand & deserve full representation. #DCStatehood #YDA2025
Whoa Heads up @anc34g @ChevyChaseDC
I’m really worried we’re on the verge of a major loss for Washington, D.C.. I feel terrible—and honestly, deeply disappointed in myself—for not seeing through the developer’s disguised intentions sooner. The presentations regarding plans for Reservoir District were misleading,…

Why should Independents vote in Democratic Party primary? How about letting Dems vote in Republican Party? Or letting Independents vote in Republican Party? If someone wants to influence Dem Party, why not just register as a Democrat. I don’t get it.
Not nearly enough is said about Mr. Wormley’s horse racing track at Van Ness and Reno Road. Read somewhere that DC neighborhoods would compete. Imagine the scene…

Only 14 paragraphs in would a @postlocal reader understand, and then vaguely, that Trayon White’s bribe originated with the FBI. Not a first in DC. Putting aside the bad decision, we ought to be weighing whether this is just. Would there be a crime without the instigation?
