Congratulations to England Women on retaining the European Football Championship. Shows the benefit of investing in women’s team sport. #Euro2025
I note that there is a quote from The Executive Office claiming this expenditure was in line with Departmental policy. As Chair of the relevant scrutiny committee, I will be seeking details as to the benefit to the public of this spending at the earliest opportunity.

However you intend to enjoy the hot🌡️ and sunny ☀️ weather this weekend, please be #SunSafe. #Slip on a shirt 👕 #Slop on high SPF sunscreen🧴 #Slap on a hat 🤠 #Seek out shade 🏖️ #Slip on sunglasses 😎 As someone who has had skin cancer, this one is personal 😊
Alliance supports the display of culture when it is safe, legal and respectful. To have a bonfire so close to an electric substation, particularly that of a hospital is not acceptable. I urge the bonfire builders to remove this bonfire at this site to remove any potential risk.
Today the Committee held its first Familiarisation session for stakeholders as part of the Inquiry (Mother & Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries & Workhouses) & Redress Scheme Bill. Sign up to receive updates on the Bill on our Committee webpage: niassembly.gov.uk/assembly-busin…
Today, we have published a ‘call for evidence’ and are asking anyone who will be directly affected by this Bill and the schemes it creates to respond to our consultation. Your views will help inform the work of the Committee. lk.cmte.fyi/InquiryRedress…
There is due process which needs to be agreed by Executive, but I am confident given public statements from all parties that it will be agreed as part of the budget. That means police numbers will be increased to 7000 and staff to around 2500 by 2027, which is what was asked.
This is actually good news. PSNI projected overspend has reduced from £39m to £21m in 10 weeks. A further 7m is earmarked for the business case this year; further, the Minister of Finance made clear he is recommending the next 3 years of the case are funded as part of the CSR.
Another very disappointing day for policing. Only £5m allocated to PSNI which has already been spent. “First call” on £7m sometime in the future for recruitment. PSNI remains £21m in deficit and its recovery plan has still not been agreed or funded.

I despair the mentality of those who spread slurry on the streets of their town motivated by hate and bigotry. Disgusting in every sense of the word. Solidarity to all at Ballymena Pride. It's a frightening time but love will always triumph over hate. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🩷🩵
Delighted to be shortlisted for the Political Purpose Awards by @nature2030 in the Wildlife Crime Prevention category. We must take a stand against wildlife crime. I’m proud to play a role in protecting species at risk. #PoliticalPurposeAwards #Nature2030
Welcomed to Northern Ireland by @ianjamesparsley & Paula. The locals are lively & friendly but I need to ask them to repeat everything. With their lilt & unique take on English vowels, just a wee bit difficult to understand, at least at first.

It has been a very tough week for the entire workforce of the PSNI and so this additional funding is very much welcomed. It also hopefully sends a strong message that thuggery and rioting will not and cannot be tolerated.
Delighted that it looks as though the Executive will agree the bid for £5m I submitted to assist the PSNI with the costs of the past week's unrest. It’s a good start but long-term investment is required.

The violence we have witnessed in recent days in Ballymena and other parts of Northern Ireland is appalling, and I urgently appeal for calm throughout our society. Those responsible do not reflect our communities, and my thoughts are with everyone who has been affected.
“Concerned” about women and girls, while they attack women and girls. “Concerned” about housing, while burning homes. “Concerned” about public services, as they destroy a leisure centre. This has nothing to do with “legitimate concerns”. It is pure, unabated racism.
This social media post from the Communities Minister was reckless and completely irresponsible. No politician should be publicly identifying locations used to shelter to families seeking refuge from violent, racist disorder; even if only temporarily.
Since last July, the Government has made and continued a series of cruel moves targeting the most vulnerable in our society. It's time for Labour to deliver the change they promised at the last election.
The UK Government must reverse its damaging welfare cuts and deliver fairer funding for our public services, Alliance Finance spokesperson @EoinTennyson has said ahead of the upcoming Spending Review. allianceparty.org/uk_gov_must_re…
