It was great for @nmcnews Chair Ron Barclay-Smith and me to meet with Health Minister Karin Smyth on Weds + update her on our steady improvement on Fitness to Practise, with 69.8% of cases being dealt with within 15 months, and our continued embedding of culture transformation.

Pleased yesterday to sign the @unisontheunion Anti-Racism Charter on behalf of @nmcnews. By signing, we are committing to a range of things, including recognising the need + benefit in championing a racially diverse workforce, and challenging racism internally and externally.

It was great to meet with Health Minister Karin Smyth MP, on Monday, to talk about the new @nmcnews culture transformation plan - which aims to turn around the culture, and embed EDI, at our organisation - and the gradual improvements in our fitness to practise process.

Delighted we yesterday published the @nmcnews culture transformation plan setting out how we'll change our culture through strong + effective leadership, values-based decision making, embedding EDI, creating psychological safety, promoting job satisfaction + regulatory fairness

Great to visit Cardiff on Thursday and see how AI is transforming wound care in the community - and meet Alyson Thomas, CEO of @llais_cymru, the independent body set up by Welsh govt to give people more say in the planning and delivery of their health and social care services.

It was great to go to Edinburgh last week and visit some of the nurses and students at Western General Hospital, talk with Interim Chief Nursing Officer @CNOScotland + her team, and hold an in-person town hall with @nmcnews staff - to ask for their views on changing our culture.


First up @PaulReesMBE is given a few moments to introduce himself on day 7 in his new role as @nmcnews Interim Chief Exec and Registrar. He highlights that he's already held 2 'town hall' events with NMC staff and met with senior stakeholders. #NMCCouncil
Starting my 2nd week at @nmcnews as Interim CEO and Registrar, where I'll continue to hold face-to-face town hall meetings with our staff team to talk about how we build a positive, empowering and inclusive culture. I'll also continue having induction meetings with key partners.
