Remember, law enforcement agencies, reputable businesses and other government departments will never ask for gift cards that they did not issue as payment. Stay vigilant and spread awareness to help others avoid these schemes. cba.ca/article/gift-c… #Scam #Fraud

I started my little Canadian privacy law YouTube channel in January 2022. I'm surprised that there are 9,992 nerds out there who hit subscribe, but if you might find it useful, there's a button for that. youtube.com/@privacylawyer

For those who prefer to read stuff, I've put the text of my YouTube episode on #BillC2 Part 14's new #lawfulaccess demands and orders for customer information on my blog: blog.privacylawyer.ca/2025/07/bill-c…
My op-ed on Canada’s approach to TikTok, which leaves us with the worst of all worlds: less protection against security and privacy risks, less support for the cultural sector, and less certainty about what the government is trying to achieve. x.com/globebusiness/…

Didn't expect to see this just after I parked myself on my beach chair on Maughers Beach on McNabs Island. (I'm not sure whether the guy in black from the Department of Natural Resources went to the Tea House, the outhouse ... or both.)
Update… I am NOT backing down…I sent this back with the help from @marcorandazza
wtf…Is this legit?
To help protect against the cryptographic threat of a future quantum computer, organizations managing IT systems must migrate cyber security components to become quantum-safe. We recommend the adoption of standardized post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to mitigate this threat. 🧵
The traveler experience is much worse now. We might as well dump all of our carry-on luggage contents into a bin. We are still required to remove our laptops, and it appeared more than half of the passengers had their bags diverted for rummaging through by your staff.
I recently spoke with @manjaselva of @CBC Radio about privacy and period tracking apps. cbc.ca/player/play/au…
Once again, @ups has proven itself to be crap at tracking packages. It's as though they don't deliver stuff on a regular basis. First, it was supposed to be delivered this morning. Now before "end of day". What does that mean? I thought you had one job.
Wow. @UPS tracking is absolute crap. The package is allegedly in Mirabel, predicted to arrive on Monday. Meanwhile, in the real world, delivery was attempted this afternoon and my package is now en route to someplace for me to pick it up.
I had a really good conversation with @mgeist about a part of #BillC2 that is not getting enough attention. Part 15 would mandate standards, technologies and techniques for surveillance well beyond traditional telcos. And much of what the gov't mandates will be secret.

The new warrantless information demand power has been the focus of concern regarding Bill C-2 lawful access. But another section may put Canadians’ digital security at risk. @privacylawyer joins the @lawbytespod podcast this week to sound the alarm. x.com/mgeist/status/…

There can be many reactions to the current battle with the U.S. over a digital services tax, but surprise should not be one of them. My post on the government’s long history of dismissing the warning signs and creating bigger risks in the process. x.com/mgeist/status/…
