Happy #FieldworkFriday! The Stehekin DREAM has come true! This site has been in the works for years and was finally installed last week at the northern tip of Lake Chelan. DREAM is online and helping to provide a more detailed picture of seismicity in the North Cascades.

Happy FieldworkFriday! We a GoPro to the skids of a helicopter for a recon flyover of St. Andrews Rock (STAR). The station is hard to spot on the ridge line that the helicopter circles. Flying above Mt Rainier really puts into perspective just how big this volcano actually is!
Did you hear today's story about OHAZ on @KLCCOregon? KLCC joined the HBO seismic site upgrade last week! Learn from @uoregon undergrads why they like working at OHAZ and how @pnsn1 seismic monitoring stations and @USGS_ShakeAlert improve resilience. klcc.org/disasters-acci…

Happy #FieldworkFriday! Oh deer! The team ran into a handful of deer while installing new site ODEER on the Olympic Peninsula. It is extremely important to respect our wildlife and keep interactions to a minimum, but that doesn’t stop curious critters from checking us out!

Happy #FieldWorkFriday! Two new seismic stations are now online: CRESC and CHUTE. @uocas students Karlee and Charlie installed the seismometers! The PNSN fosters undergrads' professional development by hiring summer field technicians at both our @uoregon and @uofwa offices.

Director Harold Tobin with @SeattleTimes about the ongoing EQ swarm at Mt Rainier: seattletimes.com/seattle-news/e… It’s the biggest swarm since 2009, we’re closely monitoring the EQ activity, but we don’t see anything to elevate the level of concern about volcanic activity at this time.
On 7/8/25, the USGS & PNSN detected a swarm of earthquakes at Mount Rainier starting at 1:29AM PDT. Currently, there is no indication that the level of activity is cause for concern, alert level and color code for Mount Rainier remain at GREEN/NORMAL. volcanoes.usgs.gov/hans-public/no…

Happy #FieldworkFriday! We're showing off our red white and blue this week: Red Mountain (REDMT), White Pass (WPEQ), and Old Blue Mountain (OLBLUE). Have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend! 🇺🇸 🎆

NEW Earthquake: M3, 37.1 km SSE from Adel, OR, -1km deep at 2025/07/01 10:34 PDT V2 pnsn.org/event/62129897 Did You Feel It?: zpr.io/HdBd4Fhqzkn6

Happy #FieldworkFriday! Last week, we highlighted the installation of our newest volcano broadband monitoring station LAVA near the beautiful Mount Hood. Here is some more footage of the work done by our awesome field staff to bring this site to life!
Anyone in OR, WA, or CA can get earthquake early warning alerts on their phones! @USGS_ShakeAlert detects earthquakes and can alert people before shaking arrives. Almost 600 PNSN seismic stations send real-time ground motion data to #ShakeAlert #EEW. 🔗sgs.gov/FAQ/BeShakeAle…

Happy #FieldWorkFriday! An unexpected (but very cute) guest joined our field staff last week on the way to site TWL1. While this tiny bear cub showed up by itself, we bet Momma Bear was somewhere close by! Springtime always brings lots of cute new faces to our local wilderness.

Happy #FieldworkFriday! As part of our preventative maintenance, sites that experience high temp fluctuations, like station HTW, have a gravel-backed wall built along the southern side. This sun blocking barrier helps keep the equipment cool and extends the life of our equipment.

PRELIM Earthquake: M3.1, 4.5 km W from Mount Vernon, WA at 2025/06/03 01:59 PDT pnsn.org/event/62121826 Did You Feel It?: zpr.io/DRgCfPsq8EuP

Happy #FieldworkFriday! Field technicians installed a wind turbine at site GORGE this week. It should help the station generate power in addition to the solar panels, in case of inclement weather. This site has lots of wind - great for testing our turbine!
