(1/n) The first paper from @EKimlab is now online in @Nature! nature.com/articles/s4158… Using single-molecule imaging, we reveal that Smc5/6 is a DNA loop-extruding motor. Upon ATP hydrolysis, single Smc5/6 translocates along DNA, while dimerized Smc5/6 extrude DNA loops.
