MEMPHIS — Jim Maxwell, who spent much of his career as a scout team and reserve quarterback, was thrust into action in Tennessee’s 10-7 win over Mississippi State in Memphis in 1971. He remained the starter, leading the Vols to seven-straight wins that season.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — In the first Third Saturday in October game in Tuscaloosa in 69 years, Tee Martin’s 21-yard fourth quarter touchdown run put away Alabama, 21-7 in 1999.

MIAMI — Mark Jones pressured Brock Berlin and forced this Gibril Wilson interception to snuff out a Miami drive in Tennessee’s 10-6 win at the Orange Bowl in 2003.
