Scrape GitHub for commits then have ai guess how complicated these commits are. Pick the top 2% according to ai’s opinion. Refine from there with other datasets like gitlab or industry. Could also target top tier companies but will break your $150k rule.
Reading through the papers at this year's @RL_Conference, and found this one on an exploration platform to be really interesting! Check it out: arxiv.org/abs/2405.19548
I'm so excited for the episode we recorded on interviewing (with an actual recruiter guest host) to go live!!! As soon as post-production is done, I'm pressing the big green button. Let's go!

Reinforcement learning wasn't originally made to work with neural networks. DQN/PPO was, but are hard to train. Neural nets are biased & the critic model adds bias, making it worse. GRPO reduces variance without a critic model by critiquing each training example on the fly.
Patrick and I have been BLOWN AWAY by the feedback from the last intro where we talked about how to land a job. This is definitely an area that needs more attention, so on Friday we invited one of my favorite recruiters to come on the show and chat! What should we ask him?

😂
We’re all looking for the guy who did this, be on the lookout for someone who: 1. Has admin access to key functionality 2. Seems to disregard authority/process 3. Possibly some connection to S. Africa
🎥 July 6 2025 San Francisco infamous Tenderloin on Leavenworth between Eddy and Ellis Street across the street from the Tenderloin museum. You’ll never know what you will see in the Tenderloin. But this doesn’t amaze me. There propane tank exploded while smoking Fentanyl in the…
I fucking love H-E-B. Hands down the best grocery chain in the country
What are some good, recent papers in #reinforcementlearning that aren't about LLM post-training?
Great talk about where reinforcement learning has been and where it will go in the future.
In my recent talk at the Upperbound conference, I included a slide in which I tried to be a realist about the arrival of AI, setting aside what we might want to happen or what we might fear will happen, and just ask what _will_ happen (as in John Mearsheimer's "realist" school of…
This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time... It always hits me hard: "No I didn't rush the f*cking field, I wasn't there...I was in a bar having a drink with my future wife. That's why I'm not talking right now about some girl I saw at a bar 20 years ago. How I…
For the record: deadlines on offer are fake. If they want you, you can always get more time to think.
In this episode we tackle two hot topics: (1) how to land a job in today's world of AI-generated resumes & AI-screening of resumes and (2) AI-assisted coding. We cover our favorite AI assistant tools and how to set them up! Show notes: buff.ly/XFnjnJ1

New episode is out: AI Assisted coding and how to get a job today in tech! patreon.com/posts/182-ai-a…
Eternal Terminal is super popular, but sadly I am the only maintainer. It's a testament to how little people need to modify it, which I suppose is great, but I also want someone else to be responsible in case something happens to me.
Because there's no fine-grain control over @YouTube (no way to block Shorts, enforce time limits) I decided to block it entirely at home using #pihole for now. There's so much good content but it's the turds that rise to the top (ironic since I worked on YT suggestions).
The conclusion is clear: your work is old enough to drive.
This is a universal experience for people my age and we should have exactly 0 immigrataion until it ends.
PT's inbox is full of college graduates asking how to get a job. The entry level job market is the worst I've ever seen including 2008 and right when the pandemic started. The harsh reality is that tech is not growing in terms of capturing value like it used to.
