Yesterday we celebrated the yearly #CTN day @ucph_health with stimulating scientific interaction and fun games🥎 in #Fælledparken🌳 in ☀️sunny😎 #Copenhagen. #science #neuroscience #retreat #teamwork #PhDlife #brain #glymphaticsrulez #sleep #tugofwar #labday @MaiNedergaard

Out today in @CellCellPress ! We show that oscillations in norepinephrine and cerebral blood volume are the missing pieces that link NREM sleep to clearance of waste from the brain 🧠💤 cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
New cool data on the impact of aging on cervical lymphatic vessels in @NatureAging – and how a prostaglandin can restore function. nature.com/articles/s4358…
Online now! Cervical lymphatics drain CSF and clear metabolic waste from the brain. Du et al., show using 2P-OPTIC that these are disrupted in aging due to reduced pumping. Restoring cervical lymphatic function with PGF2a rescues brain clearance. doi.org/10.1038/s43587…
Beautiful paper from @NedergaardLab in @NatureAging on the role of cervical lymphatics in cleansing of aged brain. Glymphatics/meningeal lymphatics = bff 🤩|| nature.com/articles/s4358…
For millennia, migraine's origin puzzled scientists. We contributed to the @ScienceMagazine paper showing how cortical spreading depression alters 11% of CSF proteome, including 2-fold increase in CGRP. The proteomic shift may explain aura-headache link. @nicwin98 @NedergaardLab
Cerebrospinal fluid links the brain and peripheral sensory system and drives headache in migraine with aura! We’re excited to share our newest article just published today in @ScienceMagazine . Please read along: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Vittani, Lee, Wang, Hiraoka, et al. KI mouse expressing red fluorescent blood In situ SpyTag/Catcher attachment of biosensor ECS SpyCatcher to capture BBB leak doi.org/10.1101/2025.0… We hope this method is useful to a wide range of the biology community.
12 Months of #Neuroscience March 2024 We can now see oxygen in the brain! It is already providing insight into why a sedentary lifestyle risk for diseases like #Alzheimers this #URochesterResearch method via @NedergaardLab made the discovery using a protein similar to what gives…
Reach out to us if you have further questions regarding the method. We are happy to help you!
We have just published a detailed protocol paper for our recently published imaging method for brain oxygen dynamics in STAR protocols: star-protocols.cell.com/protocols/3737 @temp2spec @NedergaardLab
How can understanding brain waste flow inform brain health? Prof Douglas Kelley, PhD, of Mechanical Engineering @UofR Hajim, aims to understand the glymphatic system so conditions like #Alzheimer's and #Parkinson's can be studied more effectively. #URochesterResearch In a Neuro…
1/4 We are thrilled to announce that our 🌍 collaboration has resulted in a paper in @_JCBFM. @Gazz4_Science @CathFoster_ @BradASutherland @UTAS_ @SeattleChildrens @uni_copenhagen doi.org/10.1177/027167…

#URochesterResearch via @NatureAging shows how scientists restored the brain’s ability to clear toxic waste in older mice with a drug that's currently used to induce labor. This points to a potential new treatment for #Alzheimers and #Parkinsons. Paper: go.nature.com/46WCR8F…
Really nice review discussing the anatomical and functional evidence for the SLYM layer. anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ar…
Our latest paper from the Lilius lab is now out in @_Anesthesiology! doi.org/10.1097/ALN.00… I'm happy to have been able to co-first author this paper together with @LohelaT under the supervision of @tlilius! In collaboration with people from the @NedergaardLab

Years ago Martin Rasmussen was on a Fulbright studying meningeal afferents in my lab & noticed dyes placed in CSF accumulate in trigeminal ganglia. This observation nucleated his PhD project in @NedergaardLab & has now led to a new model of migraine pain. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
