Day's visit to Hyderabad last week. Personal visit + South Central Rly HQ in Sec'bad. The development in the city to the west and northwest is jaw dropping. Any city with an outer ring road is a bit scary - hope it is managing better than Bengaluru.
Next time in Bengaluru I have to visit this Ejipura flyover that is written about so much.
When I read of a cabinet 'reshuffle', I wonder - was the earlier cabinet just a shuffle? Never heard of cabinet formation being called that.
Hand drawn schematic map of where in India our 102 students in the IEOR department have come from, this year. Good spread, just in this one batch and reflects the diversity that our country has to offer. Glad that IIT Bombay is able to be host to students from all over.

This week, 102 students joined our not-so-little department (39 btech, 11 phd, 15 msc, 37 mtech). Highest ever. A lot of energy and aspiration that I hope we are able to do justice to. Now some years since the time I would know all our program students by name.
At what precise lat-long does the medu wada of the south become mendu wada? And where does dosa (roughly pronounced those-a) become Dosa (pronounced dose-a)?
Running a democracy is a complex business, but voter ID not being one of the 11 valid documents for being able to vote is definitely Kafkaesque.

Two quaint buildings, still retaining their charm, in the area that I grew up in, very close to my school in Dadar Parsi Colony.

Attended this Avid Learning event this evening at NGMA, and managed a few words with one of the speakers, Husain Indorewala, who spoke about BEST. Need to connect more with such folks.

Laughing Jerusha and her quest for Marathi grammar. This story about centenarian Yasmin Shaikh is worth a read #Marathi #marathilanguage
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Marg, Mumbai, with a tinge of Marine Drive, Bombay on a late June evening.

This is beautiful ...
The series 1/4+(1/4)²+(1/4)³+⋯=1/3.
Adjective of the week is 'unwavering', referring to the support I am supposed to have given many of my students in their projects! Many presentations this week, and this adjective won hands down in the Acknowledgements section of their reports. Time to consider some wavering.
Konkan during monsoon is a sight to behold. View from TVC - NZM Rajdhani Express. Somewhere near Veer.
Used to look forward to window seat travel on trains, even on AC trains, where the connect with the outside world is less. Dicey proposition in some parts of my country, it seems. 🙁
Large Scale Optimization summer scale off to a strong start at IEOR, IIT Bombay, with many early birds already in place.

Since my friends here probably don't keep track of baseball ... 🙂
Catch of the year?! 😳
