You might be wondering, what’s with all the fuss around the closure of Joffre Lakes Provincial Park to non-Indigenous British Columbians? Here’s why it matters. A lot. #bcpoli
"BC has gone all-in on a flawed reconciliation approach that threatens the very core of our governance system" here nationalpost.com/opinion/caroli…
Land giveaways, undeniable veto power for up to 200 groups over the public interest, land use processes that circumvent basic democracy… BC has gone all-in on a flawed reconciliation approach that threatens the very core of our governance system . My piece in the @nationalpost

How can one can look at the downtown eastside and see it as anything BUT a failed experiment? Countless drug deaths, constant unprovoked violent attacks, a recent beating death of a 92 yr old, poverty, homelessness, crime & prostitution. It’s a desperately sad societal failure.
Opinion: The Downtown Eastside is not a failed experiment. It’s a living community of resilience vancouversun.com/opinion/op-ed/…
“Budget 2025 will see BC’s debt reach $166 billion, which will be a staggering ‼️$105 billion increase‼️ since Eby became leader. Stated plainly, the Eby govt has taken a wrecking ball to BC’s public finances.” And yet, after all this spending, outcomes are worse than ever.
Opinion: Expect B.C.’s unprecedented deficit to reach new heights this year dlvr.it/TM29tQ
The First Nations Financial Transparency Act required FNs to publicly disclose their financials, empowering Indigenous individuals to hold their own govts accountable. Trudeau stopped enforcing it, robbing them of this tool to the benefit of the powerful. winnipegsun.com/opinion/klein-…
BC’s DRIPA approach is secretive, exclusionary, undemocratic & fundamentally inappropriate for BC. Read this column from my colleagues at Public Land Use Society in the Vancouver Sun. Visit publiclanduse.ca to learn more & see how you can help! vancouversun.com/opinion/op-ed/…
I won’t be intimidated from speaking up by the usual people throwing the usual labels around. And neither should anyone else. My last post before heading into the backcountry to enjoy our beautiful public lands while we still can ; )
I usually avoid responding to such asinine posts, but I’d ask you to point to one instance ever (and I do mean ever) when I’ve “talked down First Nations.” I’ve always directed my criticism to where it belongs: at the BC govt. See radio clip below & excerpts from prior columns.
Should small numbers of indigenous British Columbians receive exclusive decision-making powers—and land—at the expense of non-indigenous residents? Our newest Senior Fellow at the Aristotle Foundation, Dr. Caroline Elliott, weighs in on the BC government's undemocratic push here.…
Eby’s adding debt faster than any Premier in BC history. BC “has gone from having some of the most sound finances in Canada a decade ago to the least sustainable finances of any province, according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer.” And yet, outcomes are worse than ever! 💸
The B.C. government’s per-person debt burden increased by 44 per cent from 2022 to 2024. fraserinstitute.org/commentary/dav…
