I don’t think that this has ever been better put. It goes to the heart of the matter. Ofsted has no evidence that its judgements are consistent, reliable or valid. Operating on a budget that has declined significantly, the problem of the quality of its judgements is compounded.
Yes. But Ofsted doesn't have evidence that what it does is either consistent, reliable or valid. "There is always more to do" is such a bad argument when basically nothing has been done. Because civil servants basically duck the issue. They don't want to do it, it doesn't happen

We've been looking closely at the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill currently progressing through Parliament. Learn more about the changes we think this key legislation should make 👇
A wonderful assessment of the Tories Emperor's new clothes approach to the marketisation of children's education in the UK.
At last some clarity of objective thinking from an educationalist. More of this please and less Tory tears over their failed free marketisation of schooling. @NEUnion @NV4Ed newstatesman.com/politics/educa…
A v good piece, challenging the lazy thinking in the media & beyond about the 'successes' of the Tory govt. It supports Labour's planned changes to policy on academies & explains that the majority of Headteachers, incl in academies, agree. newstatesman.com/politics/educa… @NewStatesman
Spot on ⬇️⬇️⬇️ @NV4Ed Alasdair Macdonald
I’d like to see more news/media reporting like this, that includes current & ex-Headteachers like Alasdair MacDonald, @HeadsRoundtable Heads, to offer other perspectives & arguments i.e. proper journalism that asks serious questions rather than just amplifying a few loud voices.
Excellent @NewStatesman piece by our chair Alasdair Macdonald @Robin_Neu2 @AmandaMartinMP @CommonsEd
The media furore around the Schools Bill has obscured Labour’s ambition to ensure every child, whichever type of school they attend, has the best start in life. 🖋 Alasdair Macdonald newstatesman.com/politics/educa…

The fact that these pilots are being conducted while the latest consultation takes place implies that Ofsted does not see any major changes being introduced as a result of that "consultation". Better to postpone the introduction till 2026.
How do you mean assessors? What would you want them to look at/consider. Because we are discussing the process with the school and trust leaders during the visits to get a sense of what is working, what isn’t, and why. The visits are designed to be collaborative so we get the…
