I’m excited to present our new preprint! An intuitive, bimanual, high-throughput QWERTY touch typing neuroprosthesis for people with tetraplegia. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
I'm really excited to receive the BWF CASI! This award will help support me as I continue to develop BCIs that restore communication. Congratulations to the other recipients as well!
BWF is pleased to announce the 2025 recipients of its Career Awards at the Scientific Interface (CASI). buff.ly/WDswUnt #bwfcasi
Postdoctoral fellow @NS_Card is a recipient of the @BWFUND 2025 Career Awards at the Scientific Interface (CASI)! This prestigious award supports early career researchers at the intersection of biology and the physical, computational and mathematical sciences. Congratulations! 🎉

Our brain-to-voice synthesis brain-computer interface paper was published in @Nature today! This neuroprosthesis synthesized the voice of a man with ALS instantaneously, enabling him to ‘speak’ flexibly and modulate the prosody of his BCI-voice. 1/7 Paper: rdcu.be/eqH3C
Great next-generation speech BCI work led by our very own @Maitreyee_W !
A man with a severe speech disability is able to speak expressively and sing using a brain implant that translates his neural activity into words almost instantly. go.nature.com/4mXv8yM
Another preprint 🧵: our first foray into 𝐡𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 + 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧-𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 Ever wished your phone knew when you perceived an error in the output it gave you (e.g., a transcription typo)? BCIs can! 1/4

📢 Heads-up to the neuro-ML/BCI community that we'll launch the Brain-to-Text '25 competition in ~a month, and it'll run through Dec. 31. More intracortical electrodes! More varied utterances! More... speechy? Rumor even has it there'll be cash prizes this year Stay tuned...
Excited to share our new report on lessons learned from the Brain-to-Text '24 competition! arxiv.org/abs/2412.17227 The biggest jump in accuracy came from using a fine-tuned merger LLM to combine hypotheses from an ensemble (see figure).
Now published in the Journal of Neural Engineering! iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…
New brain-computer interface preprint led by PhD student Tyler Singer-Clark! This video of a man with paralysis accurately controlling a cursor looks like something you've seen since ~2017. BUT! This is driven by multielectrode arrays in ventral (speech) motor cortex‼️ 1/
