Spoke to the interns at @NJC_YAF this morning. Interesting to think that 4 years ago, I was in their shoes! 🇺🇸 📰

Always a pleasure to hear from @ScottWalker, even if it's over zoom. He gave valuable advice last Friday about how a reporter can best interact with public officials.

Happy to have @GabbyOrr_ join us last Friday for a session on campaign reporting. She pulled up Geoff and Becket's LinkedIn profiles and showed us how to sleuth out their phone numbers, we were impressed.

She uses plenty of gorey and martial language to describe Free Beacon's brand of reporting, but what she's ultimately describing is just ... reporting. That the WFB's journalism should appear so novel to the former executive editor of the NYT is a subplot worthy of exploration.
Jill Abramson, the former executive editor of the New York Times, describes the Free Beacon as a "potentially lethal weapon aimed at elite universities," writing that its "jihad" has "left blood on the floor at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford," and other top schools. High praise.
NJC's founder, M. Stanton Evans, on what type of applicants we look for. "Why anybody would spend four years in college studying this I don't know."
"The scandal itself isn’t what the political press corps cares about; it’s that people have noticed...This is called 'public relations.'" @BecketAdams nationalreview.com/2025/07/the-me…
It went really well! The young reporters had insightful questions, and we had a safe, successful range session. Always glad I get to participate in these events.
It's range day at NJC! @StephenGutowski gave a detailed review on how to report on firearms. Then, shooting!
.@MaryMargOlohan calls for young conservatives to pursue real journalism: "We need more people who care about the truth. We need more people who are interested in shining light on the stories of real Americans, and holding powerful people accountable when they won't do so."

NO TAX ON TIPS 💸 @DCExaminer: 'For jobs that entail a significant proportion of income as tips, such as at full-service restaurants, the break could be a major selling point for employers trying to recruit labor.' Promises Made, Promises Kept!
Some journalism training institutes can be beneficial. I directed academic programs at @NJC_YAF for three years and emphasized getting the news correct. We have quite a few high profile grads, mostly conservative, but also including Kaitlyn Collins.
