July 20, 1986: Kenny Smith (University of North Carolina) scores 23 PTS in the United States' 87-85 win over the USSR at the FIBA World Basketball Championship in Madrid. David Robinson (Navy) scored 20 PTS and Muggsy Bogues (Wake Forest) added 5 AST/5 STL for the United States.
July 25, 1984: The U.S. men's Olympic basketball team defeats a team of NBA players, 91-86, in an exhibition game at the San Diego Sports Arena. Michael Jordan led the U.S. Olympians with 16 PTS. Kiki Vandeweghe scored 15 PTS for the NBA squad.
