Most importantly, Y6 teacher. AHT: teaching & learning, behaviour, curriculum. ADHD and autistic. Probably an entertainer third. Sell books via @anewchapterbks
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful! mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/who…
I’m hoping to get on some @EarlyExcellence training and have a couple of books, but does anyone have any recommendations for reading about provision in Year 1 or anyone good to follow? 👀🖤
Couple of tweaks for various reasons, but got our class novels for next year locked down. Y3, then 4, then 5 and then 6.

As the year draws to a close, I'm sharing my Y6 reading folder (though there are some random bits in like some Y2 lessons) for free, which is full of Y6 whole class reading lessons. drive.google.com/drive/folders/… Plus my (very long) blog on how we teach it: mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/who…
disgusted by what's been said on stage at the world's biggest festival. no one should ever be subjected to the words "hello Glastonbury, we're The Script".
Nothing worse than finishing your class read with 4 weeks of term left! I contacted @ANewChapterBks last Thursday and today, our last class book of the year arrived. Brilliant service. Thank you
"are you sure you want to close OneDrive" buddy I've never been more certain of anything in my life
Does anyone know where I can find our historic GLD? I can’t see it on the DFE portal where everything else is.
@MrBoothY6 Can you recommend a good author for a KS2 school visit 25/26 to Chesterfield?
I went to see this in the cinema the week it came out, immediately after being diagnosed with ADHD and autism at the doctors. There's a core memory for you. Had a big mac meal on the way home.
THE TRUMAN SHOW was released 27 years ago this week. Jim Carrey’s first foray onto a dramatic role, and acclaimed as one of the decade’s great satires, the story of how it came to be will give you the feeling you’re being watched… 1/46
This week we started a project in school to commit to making play and play time as important a part of the curriculum in our school as english, maths, science etc. It's a really exciting project to be leading on and something so different from what I've done in leadership so far.
I strongly suspect that the approach to reading lessons that Ashley describes in this blog is significantly more effective and more engaging than the approaches currently used in the vast majority of English schools. Well worth a read.
