Working and living in and around Rome and the Vatican for 20 years. Met the last four popes. Guest on ABC, BBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FoxNews, NewsMax, NewsNation.
Should have slapped him with it and then demoted him.
Pope Leo XIV with Cardinal Robert McElroy after placing the pallium - a symbol of authority and unity with the papacy - on the shoulders of the Archbishop of Washington DC.
Wow. Even more shocking since last year was way more crowded, despite this being a Jubilee year.
Last year, 3,000 took part in Rome’s Corpus Christi procession This year: 20,000 people joined for Pope Leo XIV‘s first Eucharistic procession
A good friend in Jerusalem sent me this photo. The Holy Sepulcher is closed. While is may seem obvious things would be closed when rockets are being launched, it’s still a bit of a shock to see.

Maybe this has happened before, but I can’t recall any of the previous popes *walking* the Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession from Saint John Lateran to Santa Maria Maggiore. It’s really beautiful to see. It’s only about a mile, but it’s currently around 90° F / 31° C, and…
A few seconds the Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession in Saint Peter’s Square last night.
I’m enjoying watching Pope Leo learn how to do pope-y things, like how he handles himself at the audience.

I know they both have other roles now, but I’d love to see the old team back together.

Pope Leo continues to return to tradition. Summering at Castel Gandolfo to resume July 6. This is such a great and intimate spot to attend the Sunday Angelus.
My just announced Advent Jubilee pilgrimage sold out in three minutes. 😳
Let’s hope the new pope makes some changes to the basilica admin and make Saint Peter’s Basilica a church again.
Another soul-crushing day at St Peter’s. First the throng of people paying Peter’s headset tax to the sound of flushing toilets-this is the route to get to the tomb of St Peter. Then the Pietà still veiled from the eyes of tourists. 25 yrs of tours-WORST administration ever!
Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought Lourdes covered up all these mosaics. I guess they only covered them up the same way Father Rupnik’s superiors covered up his years of abuse. @lourdes_france 👎🏻

Did anyone happen to catch that Pope Leo is wearing white pants? And I know some of you think "who cares?" Not every post needs to be profound, some things are just fun bits of trivia. Plus, it's a nice aesthetic.

Pretty sure this refers to the cars the pope rides outside the Vatican when he’s out and about in Rome. The pope mobile used the same plate with Pope Francis even until his final ride.
I never knew that there was a Traditional Papal License Plate for the popemobile. I'm glad that it has been restored and has now replaced the “humble” version:
This is great! Next come the hammers.
TIL that the original Missionaries of Mercy stole has been suppressed (Rupnik design). How do I know this? Because they're calling me about how to get the new one. A curse of having been assigned to Rome. I'm supposed to know how to accomplish Rome stuff.
Papal reaction video from the front row… We may have been a bit excited to see the mozzetta return 😂 and we were already beaming over the name, Pope Leo XIV. @Pontifex @Pontifex_ln Not in this video was the “scarpe rosse” chant. 😂
Seems all those people with “sources” inside the Vatican were wrong yet again. Pope Leo will be active on X and Insta. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s kind of funny to think that of all the cardinals who commuted to the meetings each day leading up the conclave, the media never had a chance to shove a camera and mic into the face of Cardinal Prevost since he already lived within the walls of the Vatican. The only chance…

In the coming months, all of the nearly 1,000 churches of Rome will need to begin removing the coat of arms of Pope Francis and replace them with the coat of arms of Pope Leo. It took well over a year last time. One church in Rome already has Leo’s, kind of, his titular church of…
