Stopped by Santa Maria sopra Minevra to say hello to soon-to-be-saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, who has arrived just in time for the Jubilee of Youth this week. He is side-by-side with Catherine of Siena - what an amazing spiritual dynamic duo!

While on vacation, I am looking forward to coming events - like a presentation with my friends from the Sistine Chapel Choir where we bring art and music togther for immersive beauty! We'll be in Chicago @athenaeumcenter & Detroit saintjohnsresort.com/detroit-events… athenaeumcenter.org/events/2025/si…
It took planes, trains, automobiles, and an electric scooter, but I got to Potsdam to see what might be my favorite painting, Caravaggio's Doubting Thomas. It was moving to see it the same month that my reflection came out in @MagnificatMag us.magnificat.net/magnificat_con…

The curtains and barriers are gone today! Tourist and pilgrim alike can enjoy the Pieta, and the Holy Door was easily accessible to all!!! A great day in the Basilica!!

Happened upon the Red Bull cliff diving championship while having lunch at Polignano Al Mare yesterday. 21m dive for women, 27 for men. The athletic prowess almost made me feel guilty about ordering a second bottle of wine…almost…
A Sacred Heart Miracle!!! They opened the curtain so we can see the Pieta today from the nave of the basilica!

Thrilled to team up with Fabio Manduca, Driver to the Stars, for an unforgettable tour of Puglia - Fabio has curated the best sites&flavors of Italy's favorite getaway spot, including a winetasting at our villa near Ostuni! Looking forward to hosting you! exceptionaljourneys.net/upcoming-tours…

Day 62 of the Pietà captivity. Hidden behind a curtain, visible only to those entering the Holy Door where one is hustled past without the possibility to stop and contemplate the cost of our salvation. Cardinal Gambetti, Tear Down This Wall!

Happy Pentecost! While I was communing with Caravaggio this morning, our @MastersRome intern braved the throng at the Pantheon Mass and got this great picture! Packed city, joyous crowds, wonder and beauty everywhere! The Holy Spirit certainly came today!

Another soul-crushing day at St Peter’s. First the throng of people paying Peter’s headset tax to the sound of flushing toilets-this is the route to get to the tomb of St Peter. Then the Pietà still veiled from the eyes of tourists. 25 yrs of tours-WORST administration ever!

The new gift shop now in the church was disturbing to me. It all feels so commercial. And they must stop blocking St. John Paul II’s tomb with a curtain, too! Massive amounts of pilgrims come to visit him and are left with unbendable security to shout them down amid tears.
The present administration of St Peter's Basilica is a disgrace. To monetize the Holy Year they made an understaffed €7 "fast-pass" line - They call it a church, charge like a museum, then hide the Pietà behind a curtain. Plus, no one knows where to go! catholicworldreport.com/2025/05/08/mod…

Last supper in Spain before returning to the Sistine chapel, which reopens tomorrow!

Now I am surrounded by old masterpieces and new in the Toledo cathedral. Newly restored El Greco and Goya w/some Luca Giordano on the ceiling, are joined by some of the greatest contemporary artists, in the permanent exhibition “Faces of Christ”
