#Phage scientist 🇲🇽🇺🇸at @KU_Leuven 🇧🇪 | #Science communicator | Advocate for phage therapy for patients
I want to be a tradscientist. I just do experiments wearing old timey lab clothes and reject modern scientist roles like answering emails.
Nice Late Breaking News talk of @MotherOfPhage at the #ISAPP2025 meeting in Banff, Canada. She highlighted the emergence of #PandrugResistant and #HighlyVirulent #Klebsiellapneumoniae strains related to #conflicts, and the therapetic potential of #bacteriophages in this context.
If anyone needs a clear explanation of how to do standardised antibiotic susceptibility testing (MICs) properly then I highly recommend this article nature.com/articles/s4425…
This work was equally driven by two PhD students, Aleksandra Otwinowska (experiments) and @jkoszucki (bioinformatics). Check out the preprint or DM if you want to learn more. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Happy to join the Global Clinical Phage Rounds (G-CPR) for a journal club on the landmark paper discussing 100 consecutive cases in Belgium with #phage therapy (Pirnay et al, Nature Microbiology 2024) with @PaulPirnay , me, and Sarah Djebara M.D. Today! Scan to sign up.

Thomas Frank from Invitris, told us the latest update on cell-free phage production
And now, to discuss the future of phage therapy, we're having a round table with this great panel of experts
The last presentation of our symposium is being provided by @BriersYves. He is introducing brilliantly the concept of digital phagograms
And after a great lunch, nothing better than listen to @MartinLoessner talking about reinventing phage therapy
Come and visit our poster P06 during the poster sessions at 1st International Symposium on Advances in Phage Therapeutics @AzeredoLab 😊 Our colleague @marcocv1497 will be presenting our phage collection for M. Abscessus and all his work for expanding the host range!
🗞️And the symposium just started. We welcome everyone here and hope you enjoy our first symposium Advances in Phage Therapy
And now, Sara Djebara is providing an overview of the Belgian experience
Today's last invited speaker is Alexander Sulakvelidze from Intralytix, who is talking about strategies to enhance phage preparations for different applications
Krystyna Dabrowska opened session 4, proving some updates on the gut context on specific immune responses to phage therapy
Anca Segall speaking about phage therapy for CF patients with A. Xylosoxidans Advances in Phage Therapeutics

Can there be a best sock award for conferences?
