Scotland’s commitment to ending child restraint is vital, supporting the workforce and transparency will protect children’s rights effectively.

They don’t want anyone to see the scale of the issue where children with disabilities are being subjected to punitive use of restraint and seclusion. It’s not by accident that recording and reporting have never been mandated and that’s only part of it! #HarrysLaw #CalumsLaw

Fantastic response and I very much echo the words of; "As part of the development of this, children and young people are not listed as people whose views and experiences must be sought. We would strongly encourage an amendment at Stage 2 to address this." 🙏

Trauma-informed practice is basically developmentally-informed practice. I am struck again & again by how British teachers are cheated of a basic understanding of child development. It makes their lives & jobs harder.

What I hear: If the focus is on connecting with children... how will they ever learn? What I think: Without connection, there is no learning.

Sincerely hope that sharing our story will now bring about the withdrawal of the current, harmful #FII guidance and that our communities will no longer be targeted, just because we are perceived as 'different'. All humans are different. Time we did so much better than this 💜
