Heading back to Blighty after an amazing 10 days in the company of Lambis Englezos on the Fromelles & Pozieres commerative tour. It is always a pleasure to work for @MatMcLachlan. This tour gave exceptional insight into the search for the missing of Fromelles.

Where it all started...
ROBERT ALTMAN earned $70,000 for directing M*A*S*H in 1970 but his 14-year-old son (Mike) earned over $1 million for writing the lyrics to its epic theme song.
Mont Saint Quentin - the 2nd Australian Division Memorial was the most appropriate place to finish our ninth and penultimate day of what has been a fantastic Anzac tour.

The final day of the Mat McLachlan Fromelles & Pozieres anniversary tour. We started at Cabaret Rouge CWGC, where Lambis Englezos introduced us to some recently identified Australian casualties.

Another great day on the Anzac trail with the @MatMcLachlan Fromelles & Pozieres anniversary group. Today's itinerary culminated at the Australian Corps Memorial Park, Le Hamel.

It was absolutely fascinating to visit the underground city at Naours today. Linking the carved out signatures of fallen Diggers and Tommies to the pictures at Vignacourt seems a worthy cause. An amazing story....

We dodged some classic Somme weather today. Our @MatMcLachlan Fromelles & Pozieres tour went on to visit AIF Headquarters at Chateau Bertangles. It's interesting to consider Monash as a Chateau General...

A subtle shift of focus today as we looked at the human experience of the Great War. The Lost Diggers at Vignacourt really bring that into focus. The poignant portraits of Australian, British, French, US, and Chinese troops really hit home.

We were privileged today to have access to the Chapel on the Riencourt Ridge outside Bullecourt. Many of our Anzac pilgrims accepted the invitation to light a candle for their fallen family members.

At dusk on 19 July, almost to the minute of the ill-fated Anglo-Australian attack 109 years ago, we walked out into No Man's Land towards the Sugar Loaf. It was an emotive moment for many of our group who are descendants of 5th Australian Division soldiers.

Yesterday's ceremony at Fromelles was very well done. The participation of local students in the Australian pilgrimages added a lot to the feeling of shared remembrance.

The 109th Anniversary of the Battle of Fromelles was commemorated with due dignity and appropriate ceremony.

Our second day at Fromelles included much of the ceremonial programme. We also had time for a battlefield walk with Lambis Englezos. We visited the site of the German burial pits close in to Pheasant Wood. A memorable moment for all of us.

I was privileged to attend a lovely ceremony today. The villagers of Fromelles have recognised the mammoth efforts of Lambis Englezos by naming a new pedestrian walkway after him. The current mayor and the mayor, when Lambis began his work, gave a heartfelt salute.

Thank you! We hope people can come along and enjoy an enriching weekend of history @WolfsonHistory @GoalhangerPods
