There were 6 SEC teams and 4 Big Ten teams in the CFP Top 15 at the end of the regular season All 6 SEC teams played a harder schedule than all 4 Big Ten teams Indiana played an easier schedule than Boise State He’s playing a G5 schedule and getting treated like a P4 program
Indiana's Curt Cignetti (on dropping Virginia home/home series): "We figure we'd adopt an SEC scheduling philosophy" & mentions how many SEC teams play FCS teams & that SEC only plays 8 league games
Collectives can keep on keepin on
Attorneys have resolved a dispute over how the College Sports Commission handles NIL collectives, sources tell @YahooSports, revising its approach to treat them like other businesses - a major move that paves the way for continued collective operations bit.ly/4kVo5od

At what point in college sports did the programs with the most resources *not* get the best players? Talent has never been more spread out than it is today.

This framing continues to bother me. A lot. Competitive balance in college sports has always been distorted by resources and revenue. The richest schools have always had an advantage by paying coaches, building facilities. But now, when it’s about paying athletes, it’s a problem.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning on what he looks for in a QB. "A guy that throws touchdowns!"
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning on what he looks for in a QB. "A guy that throws touchdowns!"
He argued for an 8-win team getting a playoff bid *yesterday* Yes, they wanted to be handed something.
He said people hear “automatic qualifiers” and have a misperception that the Big Ten wants to be handed something. “Everything we're talking about is earning it on the field,” Petitti said. “To go through that type of a gauntlet, to get to the to get the CFP, is a lot.”

So much little brother energy coming out of the Big10 today
NEW: Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti takes shot at SEC in defense of canceled non-conference series with Virginia: "We figure we'd adopt an SEC scheduling philosophy." on3.com/news/curt-cign…
What an absolutely terrible argument
Big Ten's Tony Petitti: "If you're 6-3 in the Big Ten, I would argue that's a good record. If you stumble in the non-conference I don't know why that would disqualify you (from playoff contention)"
Every other league is against this. It'll stay at 12 long term if they're going to dig their heels in like this
Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti on why 4-4-2-2-1 model is best: "We want to better connect the regular season and the postseason. ... We want more conference games to matter in November." Also mentions nonleague scheduling.
SMU's coach advocating against the committee that unjustly gave his team a playoff spot is an interesting strategy
Rhett Lashlee is advocating pretty hard for the removal of the College Football Playoff field being determined by a committee because of the human bias which comes into it.
Careful Rhett… Arkansas is about to open
NEW: SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee takes shot at the SEC in defense of strength of ACC: “The SEC has had the same six schools win the championship since 1964. Not a single one has been different since 1964. That’s top-heavy to me. That’s not depth.” on3.com/college/smu-mu…
This aired on Fox. Fox airs Big10 games. 1 + 1 = this take
"Big Ten money is Hollywood, tech, and financial centers. There's a lot of car dealerships in the SEC." @colincowherd lays out why the Big Ten is now the premier college football conference
Wouldn’t be surprised at all if preseason becomes postseason too.

Oh wow. This makes week four in Oxford even more interesting.
Sources: Former BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff has verbally committed to transfer to Tulane. The school has spent more than a week doing a vetting process, including the university’s Title IX office examining the case that resulted in Retzlaff withdrawing from BYU.
